I certainly wouldn’t take it for that. Cutting decades off my life and being physically limited for the rest of it is not worth that amount.

they haven't even attempted to negotiate with him. i'm sure his preference is to stay, but he'd also like to be paid according his talent level. the delta is far far far more than a mil.

unfortunately what a player makes is directly at odds with fans interests. it's a shame, because I'd love them to all get as much money as they can over the course of their careers, sacrificing their bodies for my entertainment. Realistically though, I'd like my team to get favorable deals, and have a hard time sympathizing with millionaires. There's a reason fans don't ***** about how much coaches get paid.

At this point in their careers, I'd have to agree with you. Deebo is 28, and Aiyuk 26. Deebo only has 2 years left on his contract. That means he'll be looking for an extension after this season. I would pay Aiyuk, and make a decision on what to do with Deebo next year. Because their big cap hits will never be at the same time.

I think they should pass the torch, obviously they think differently.

Yep and Deebo body seems to be breaking down some. I get he’s the heart and soul of that team but I don’t let a talent like Aiyuk go.

yeah not sure what i’d do, just staying the position they’re in. other guys are signed, and they have control over aiyuk.

deebo seems to fit what they like to do better as well, and likely won’t cost as much to extend (or fetch as much in trade)

It is going to get interesting on how the 49ers handle their salary cap going forward. They have plenty of cap space this year, but starting in 2025, they will be near the bottom in cap space available. Cutting Deebo after this season would save him around $9 million for 2025. It is worth it to do so? It will depend on who else they have to pay and how much.

I think they are planning on extending Deebo after this season, and dropping Aiyuk. If they planned on moving on from him, they would sign Aiyuk. But their decision might change based on how well the rookie WR looks. If he's looking good, Aiyuk is gone.
