49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk requests trade

Phone call would be over quick.

Aiyuk's agent: "What are you offering for a a contract extension?"

Stephen: "We would like him to play out his deal and see where the leaves fall..... Hello? Are you still on the line?. Dad! These agents are being mean again."
And the front office would spin it as they were interested and did everything they could....

Only the NFL team owners can fix this mess. They need to demand % salary limits (based on a yearly salary cap) be set for every position, especially the top team salary costing positions, if they ever are going to give all teams a chance to truly be competitive.
This would be absolutely ridiculous. No other sport does this and neither will the NFL. They will just keep raising the cap each year to offset the higher salaries. To tell certain positions they can only make X amount will never fly,

Man these guys just lose it when it comes to players salaries...I don't know why people are so focused on it. THe more the guys make the more the salary cap is.

Post of your life!!!

The cap increase/decrease is a formula negotiated into the current CBA. It is not controlled by owners or players sans renegotiating the issue. Those that clamor for additional controls are fans of teams run by idiots.

Maybe? We'd have more than 1 great receiver anyways.

My response is, "So what!". It's not like the Cowboys' FO will go after him. This should be moved to the NFL Forum because it's irrelevant news for the Cowboys.

(In bold ^^^): Isn't that what happens every year already?

why do people do this why do fans start posts that are ridiculously hypothetical and fantasies why in the world would you think the Dallas Cowboys can afford to give what the San Francisco 49ers is gonna want like a first and a third to get this dude and then he comes over here and wants what 30 or more $1,000,000 you can't put 2 wide receivers on the same team who wanna be paid about the same money you're gonna have 2A dogs it cannot happen and by the way this dude is surrounded by so much talent beware you remember all the things said about CD Lam maybe when amari Cooper left and we had to be the man could he still be the number one when everybody on the other side of the ball knows he's the number one there are not a lot of other threats if he ends up on another team?

The answer is 150% no this is fantasy world he needs to land on a team that needs a number one you like the New England Patriots or another team that's desperate to have a alpha dog #1 elite wide receiver although I don't think he's elite but he cannot go to a team that's already in negotiations with the player in the same position that's gonna probably get $35 million a year it can't happen you can't give up draft picks & a player for that much money there's a reason why he's actually been wanting to trade since the draft it didn't happen free agency didn't happen he's been open to a trade for two months now and it's not happening because the dude wants too much compensation and the team wants too much compensation it's not gonna happen it's gonna have to go to a team who needs a clear number one and there isn't many who are willing to give up a first and a third minimum plus 30 to $35 million he already turned down like 27 million...

Nah

-He’ll get paid much more than he’s worth

-WR isn’t even a huge need, nor is it conducive to championship teams

-the Jones family is cheap
right who would give up the 1st and the 3rd and then pay a guy 30-35,000,000 when you already have that guy on the team and I'm not sold let this kid Brandon I can't spell his last name, is gonna be a clear #1 when he's the alpha dog and the only clear elite receiver on another team where the other side knows..hmm

you can't give up that kind of compensation and money that is why a guy like amari Cooper only got 1/5 because he had a big contract everyone thinks Jerry got raped but then we see guys like Hopkins get clear cut dalvin cook get cut other guys you can't give up draft compensation and turn around and give a guy franchise money he going to have a lot of suitors and why does his own team not just hand them 35 right now isn't that what they say about Jerry Jones if you got a clear #1 if you got an elite player why is there any question you should just pay the man don't want to sit here and do the same thing you do to Jerry not you man I'm just saying in general people reading this

hey San Francisco stop being so damn cheap and paid the man. You're mistaken my opinion is paying a guy at running back close to $19,000,000 a year at the running back position a guy who's probably seen his best days and not give Brandon IU his money I mean this should be clear right san Francisco's making mistakes they overpaid their running back and now they're having negotiation problems with their wide receiver, sound familiar??

nononononononononoononononmonoinoiiononononononononononononononmoon way..

You all live in fantasyland and I'm glad you're entertaining yourselves because that's all this is it's fantasy it's ridiculous to even have a post about it we are not bringing in any other #1 wide receivers you wanna go find a quality #3 or a #2 to challenge Brandon cooks that's fine but this dude needs to go to a team that needs a clear #1 because you can't afford the compensation and draft picks and money it makes zero sense it makes so little sense some of you I think work in an area that needs to be better ventilated..

Said this for years and I for one don’t understand how the mainstream players allow 2 or 3 players to absorb a large amount of the cap. The union has failed miserably for the great majority of the players

I could see the Steelers, Chargers, or Dolphins doing it. I think the Dolphins would be an intriguing option with Tua and Tyreek.
Steelers have been mentioned. I can see that as a destination.

The Chargers just dumped a big WR salary, not sure if they would pull the trigger or just draft young guys for Herbert.

The Dolphins just signed Jaylen Waddle to a big extension that goes through 2028. Couple that with Tyreek's deal, I think they are done for now with big dollar wideout deals.

We'd be happy to offer Brandon the vet minimum along with a coupon for 5% off any specialty pizza from Papa Johns

Niners should find a way to sign him and dump often injured Deebo instead. Brock getting paid next year, so I get that it would be difficult. If they do trade him, I see a tough road ahead for them to return to the Super bowl. The Lions are the fave IMO. With the Pack right there with SF. There is also the reality that they couldn't win it with Aiyuk. But I wouldn't trade him unless they got over the top compensation for him. I think Williams and Mccaffrey will pick up more injuries as they get older. As will Deebo and Then I think they will eventually regret paying Purdy the boatload he will get next season. The Lions and the Pack will be the new obstacle in front of us if we ever get our act together.

So you want to pay two WRs 30 mil/season.

Let's see:

Dak: 55 mil
Ceedee: 30 mil
Parsons: 30 mil
Aiyuk: 30 mil

That adds up to 145 mil. Salary cap is around 250 mil

Do you have any ideas how you're going to field a team?

Home Depot parking lot can provide cheap bodies for the rest of the team.

Absolutely. They also ignore how much the owners bring in every year. Why can't the players also get paid? I hope the players get as much as they can playing this dangerous, violent game.
