No, actually I am the teacher of record. I have never been a prof's *****. And I am about to be an Asst Professor next year. The rankings don't vary. Lecturer is MA, no prof. Asst prof is new, Associate is with tenure, Full is for the badass
Why are u arguing with me when I am in it?
Why are you arguing with me when my experience with it far exceeds yours? Let this soon to be badass tell you where it is at.
First, if you are the instructor of record for your course then you are someone's b**** b/c you are getting paid to assist rather than instruct.
Let me break it down for you.
TA -- Graduate student -- May be called a) by first name, b) Mr. or Ms., or c) Teaching Assistant. May sleep with students - after all what are they going to do to you?
Instructor -- MA or Ph.D. folks who generally don't have tenure track positions -- May be called a) instructor, b) professor, c) Mr., Ms., Dr. depending on education. Can't sleep with students
Assistant Prof -- Ph.D (except in fields don't have Ph.D. like art) -- May be called a) instructor, b) professor, or c) Dr.. Can't sleep with students.
Associate Prof -- Terminal degree -- has worked through the ranks -- May be called a) instructor, b) professor, or c) Dr.. Can sleep with students if really discreet.
Professor -- Terminal degree -- worked up though associate -- May be called a) instructor, b) professor, or c) Dr.. May sleep with students - after all what are they going to do to you?*
