I question whether he would have made the 1st down.

I question if he should have even been the primary receiver on the play. The pre snap read didn't even consider Witten who was wide open.

well maybe you should try actually watching what happened instead of reading about it on NFL.com

the first down marker was just outside the goalline

David
Right you are, even if he caught the ball upright he had woodson and the safety all over him, besides he ran the route short of the first down! why do so many recievers do this,I mean you see it in every game. I believe Glenn did the same thing late in the Commander game on the 4th down.

Wow, Nors doesn't even watch the games? Maybe he really is a New England fan.

:lmao2:

In '05 with the internet and Tivo box scores are for losers. I read this post (watched the actual play again and again) and within 2 minutes I could see that he was wrong.

true but a 3 step drop is a quick decision play, if there was good pass protection he could have looked left, if he had nothing right.

I watched the game - sure looked like we could have made a 1st and not scored a TD....

not quite as dumb as throwing passes well short of the first down (or TD) mark two times in 3 weeks, both times costing us potential wins

whoever is designing those routes for these key plays should be joining Mr Zimmer on the unemployment line

David

yes.... there is nothing that makes me want to throw a beer bottle through the ole 32 incher than running a route well short of the marker on 3rd down. i would rather the qb throw the sob out of bounds than see some s#$t like that.

I DON'T LIKE A 3 STEP DROP THERE!

Get him back and let the play develop. There was no real pressure and if there is pressure that dictates where you attack - JMO

Yes, he could have.....but it wasn't at the one yard line. It was inside the one yard line. It was pretty close to the goal line.

he might have seen witten.
Yes - the 3 step forced a quick read and he was under a tad of upfront pressure.

He drops 5 steps he's past the upfront pressure and can make the read back to Witten if need be.

the last thing mcnabb is going to be thinking about is a sports hernia. he'll probably have to spend the night in a local hospital.

On first down they should have run a bootleg and have either Bledsoe run it in or throw a pass to Witten.

Or they should have run a play where they play action to JJ from a run formation with 3 TE and KJ as the only WR and thow to one of the TE not named Witten since nobody would think Campbell or Pierce would be the primary receiver.

1) Hate the fade
2) Witten looked to be the best option and AT LEAST makes the 1st IMO.
3) NO WAY no how Glenn makes the 1st even with a perfect pass. DB hit him almost as the pass hit his hands, he had little hope of advancing IMO, and the 1st down marker was very close to being on the goalline.
