How can this be a good pick when this team has other glaring needs.
You take the best available talent. Anyhow, it's not like QB isn't a glaring need. Kitna is old as dirt. Kitna gives us time to get McGee in NFL playing shape.

I'm trying to stay optimisitc. But Jerry must have cracked ribs with all these reaches. I like the picks. Hate where they are chosen.

Don't love the pick, but we had to take our medicine at some point. We can't continue with the Johnsons and Kitnas of the world to back up Romo forever.

If he develops, he will pay dividends. Hopefully he does so without ever seeing any significant playing time. See Hasselbeck, Matt.

It will be good to have legit QB depth... unlike last year when we relied on noodle arm Johnson for the backup QB position... that turned out to be a disaster when Romo went out... McGee can probably throw the rock beyond 8 yards too

Honestly, McGee's arm ain't much better. I've never been impressed with anything dealing with McGee's throwing ability, and A&M's system never forced him to throw as a first option so that makes me nervous, because he's essentially never succeeded in an NFL system.

Yay, he's fast, big whoop, we used an important fourth round pick on a 3rd stringer. Cannot agree with this pick.

I like it. I like the player. We have a bunch of picks, might as well use one on someone who will actually stick around for a while

I really like this pick. And not because my family (dad) has ties to A&M and the fact that I grew up loving the Aggies. But because he does have some talent. Not world class by any means, but this kid loves to play football, and has a passion for the game. Good pick.

Um, you have glanced at our 2008 draft, right?

How do you draft an injury-prone QB with a crap arm in the fourth round over a number of other glaring needs not a month after you grab Jon Kitna? Especially when you only have two players drafted already? Why could we not have drafted a QB with one of our later picks after we'd addressed the bigger problems? Ugh.

BPA.

FWIW, Drew Boylhart (thehuddlereport.com) rates Stephen McGee as a 2nd rd prospect with a chance to go in the 1st round. He ranked Stephen as the 3rd qb behind Stafford and Sanchez. He says he is more talented than Brad Quinn, and has similar talent as Steve Young. He says he should go in the 2nd rd, but a smart team may see that they have a potential impact starting qb that's 2-3 years away and take him in the 1st round.

Exactly!

This is one that looks bad now, but will look great in a few years

Well, they could move him to WR, then call him a projct, then have him dislocate that shoulder every preseason and sit on the bench while everyone drools over his potential.

Wait..................

Where does he contribute this year???? with that pick he's gotta come in and do something on this team. Very disappointed with that reach. There's a ton of skill guys that can come in here and contribute right away at 101 overall. This guy will ride the bench for the next two years. I like the pick but not at that spot!! Waste!!

Yes, it's too bad we didn't select one of the biggest headcases and bad actors in the draft in the first round, a gimmick QB in the second round, and a big stiff corner who doesn't particularly like tackling in the third round.

Understood, but I don't think we're good enough to do that right now, and I'm not so sure McGee was the best player on the board.

Kitna's got 3-4 years left in him as a backup, I don't understand drafting a backup NOW with our third pick, especially a guy like McGee that hasn't proven himself as a good throwing NFL prospect.

not only that but he isnt very accurate. i cant believe they would pick him to be a qb, they HAVE to have different plans for him, i can seen WR/RB/spot option run/pass plays
