The "Barbarian" should be added to this list. I loved watching him come in and give this team a shot in the arm with his reckless, battering ram style.

George Teague needs some love in this thread if only for defending the star against T.O.

Loved the reference to Butch Johnson. The Quake was my all-time favorite touchdown celebration.

We all love Roger, Troy, Emmitt, Tony D, Tony R, Irvin, Manster, Too Tall, Lilly, etc......but who are your 5 favorite players who weren't superstars.

1. Larry Cole, DE/DT
2. Everson Walls, CB
3. Erik Williams, RT
4. Larry Allen, OL
5. Tony Hill, WR

As far as actual role players... as in guys who really weren't starters but contributed, that is really a difficult question.

Two jump to mind for me immediately:

Bill Bates and Kenny Gant. Special teams demons who helped out on defense.

I would probably put Cole Beasley in there too. Really good player for what he's asked to do.

Alfredo Roberts, the blocking TE from Jimmy Johnson's glory days in the early 90's was a very good blocking TE. Did the dirty work while Novacek got all the passes.

I also really liked Godfrey Myles from the early 90's. Big, strong, fast LB who never started but he was hell on special teams and contributed in certain defenses. May he RIP.

Apologies. When I first read the title of this thread, I didn't see the "Role Player" but instead, just saw players.

So, without further ado.......

My revised:

Billy Bates
Preston Pearson
Danny White
Kenny Gant
Jason Garrett

I take it that when you say role players they were not starters but came in to take on certain roles

Mike Renfro
Kelvin Martin
Kenny Gant
Bill Bates
Danny White as backup and punter

Like the inclusion of Danny White. He was a very capable punter along with being a more than sufficient backup..
