1. Preston Pearson, RB
2. Golden Richards, WR
3. Robert Newhouse, FB
4. Cliff Harris, S
5. Butch Johnson, WR

I'm not sure how a guy who started 130 game for Dallas and who was an important part of the secondary could be considered a role player. He was on the all-decade team of the 1970s.

Calvin Hill became a great role player after Duane Thomas was drafted.

Same goes for the guy who mentioned Harvey Martin.

Another honorable mention should go to Laurent Robinson. We only had him one year, and didn't expect much. He ended up surprising us all. One year wonder indeed. Glad it was with us.

We all love Roger, Troy, Emmitt, Tony D, Tony R, Irvin, Manster, Too Tall, Lilly, etc......but who are your 5 favorite players who weren't superstars.

1. LB/S Bill Bates
2. WR Kelvin Martin
3. DT Chad Hennings
4. S James Washington
5. DE Greg Ellis

Bill Bates is an absolute Must on this List. Everson Walls, Ron Springs, Kenny Gant, James Washington. Scott Case.

Danny would also at times pull that ball down on a punt and throw it :)

Remember him doing that, and the infamous " No Danny No" by Landry on the sideline when he decided to do something other than punt the ball away

I still wish we could have brought him back. I don't know if that would have prevented his concussions, but I certainly believe he would have done better with us than with the Jaguars at least. There was just no way we were going to give him that kind of money though. I am glad he managed to get paid before his career was cut short however, he was a good guy.

I recall Landry doing that on a 4th and 1 vs the Commanders where Danny tried to QB sneak instead of just trying to draw the skins offsides

Role players guys. That means full time starters not included. Surprised how many here do not understand that.

Preston Pearson and Bill Bates are pretty much the ones head and shoulders above everyone else

I can't believe how many starters are considered role players by some of you. I don't know about 5 in particular but some that come to mind are Kevin Williams, K-Mart, Dwayne Harris, BillBates, Kenny Gant. See a trend? I love those special teams demons. As far as third down specialists, I like Preston Pearson, Ron Springs and Cole Beasley. As far as blocking, I like Marty B.
