I got tired of the 10's.

5 reasons the Eagles will probably take a step back this season:

1. McNabb is overrated. Ever since Limbaugh said he was overated, it seems like veryone is afraid to say anything negative about McNabb (except Aikman). Limbaugh was right about McNabb being overrated, but he had the wrong reason for it. It had nothing to do with color. That made no sense because McNair is black, and he is underrated. The reason McNabb is overrated is because he is a system QB. The fact that his two backups, Detmer, and Feeley, came into several games in 2002 and actually played at a higher level than McNabb, goes to show that he is a product of a good system. How is Feeley doing now in Miami? That's my point.

2. Owens will cause trouble. He'll hold out as long as he can, but it won't take too long for him to get upset with McNabb. He complained about Garcia, wait until he plays a few games with McNabb. McNabb's accuracy is very suspect and will put Owens in situations he doesn't like. He will get nailed and the frustration will build. At some point, he will spout off and there will be hard feelings. The locker room will suffer and so will the Eagles.

3. Kearse will get hurt. He already is. It will continue. Everyone wants to talk about Testaverde getting hurt because he is 40. This is a prime example of the fact that age doesn't always matter. Kearse is made of glass and I am willing to bet Kearse misses more time than Vinny to injury this year.

4. Loss of CB's. Good CornerBacks don't grow on trees. Just ask the Cowboys. CB is becoming one of the most important positions in all of football. You just cannot lose two CB's like Taylor and Vincent and expect to fill the void. This will prove to be the biggest loss of all. Every week.

5. Now, no runningback. They went from three, starter quality RB's, to one undersized average at best option in Westbrook. Believe me, Levens is not going to cause any opposing team to lose any sleep. Westbrook will be okay, but he is no more than a change of pace back. They will miss Duce almost as much as they miss Taylor and Vincent.

No thoughts on the Eagles demise?

It's sad. Seventeen replies to a thread bashing current Cowboy Lynn Scott, and I cannot get single Cowboys fan comment on the demise of our arch rival the Eagles. We've come a long way since the days of.........

I agree with most of what you said...I think their defense is going to be really suspect (it wasnt that good last yr either, especially vs the run)...they dont appear to have much chance of having a consistent running threat and as I have always said, McNabb isnt a very good QB....his supporters I'm sure will come up with more excuses this yr, but he isnt a very good passer...Owens helps them, but Mcnabb is not anywhere near as accuract as Jeff Garcia was, something I'm sure Owens has already seen...they have good solid special teams and Akers will win them a game or two because he is so good, but I think 10-6 is the best the Eagles will do....they wont win the division unless we have alot of significant injuries

OK...I'll bite.

1) McFlabb sucks
2) TO sucks
3) CB's suck
4) Can't handle the pressure put on them...they suck
5) Oh yeah...did I mention they suck

lol... :D

Actually, I think they have so much pressure put on them...and with a few key injury's they will not be able to keep up with the hype. They are indeed a talented team, but they are one injury...TO, Kearse, CB away from pushing them out of it. I really think they will not win the NFC East...I think they will be fighting for the wild card spot.

I just see them imploding.

Owens seems to have a personal problem with Garcia. I don't know what all happened, but I just cannot understand how he goes out of his way to bash Garcia. I've never been a big Garcia fan, but you cannot sell the guy short in the effort department. I think Owens will miss Garcia as time goes on. McNabb and Owens will have their share of success, the system will make sure of that. But, I know for a fact that Owens will get hit harder and more often as a result of McNabb's inaccuracy.

Five reasons

1. Commitment to Choke.
2. Infinite tradition to lose.
3. Embarrassed NFC in 1980- penalty is lifetime ban on ever winning Super Bowl.
4. Fans suck.
5. see above

Truth is the Eags are still the best team in this division even with injuries.

McNabb is not a great QB but he is a very good and versatile one. He makes plays to keep drives going and that leads to points. Manning is a great QB but he is 1 dimensional. McNabb isnt which is a huge bonus if you play a team capable of beating your OL. McNabb can go 5 of 9 for 80 yards and lead the team to 2 TDs with his well timed scrambles and dump offs to backs and TE's.

Kearse is a china doll for sure. But the Eags have found ways to get pressure with sorry DL before. I see weaknesses in their offense and defense but they still have more strengths than any other NFCE team.

I wish nothing but failure on them but its hard to see reasons why they cant win 11 games at least.

TO...other then the Garcia comments...has been quiet so far. Wait until the season starts and the heat of the game kicks in...he will have it out many times with McFlabb...will be fun to watch.

if McNabb goes 5/9, its usually for 32 yds or something

he makes plays with his feet, but his inability to throw with any consistent accuracy especially down field make him a liability in that system IMO

That system has never relied on downfield passing. It relies on WRs catching underneath stuff and racking up yards after catch.

McNabb is a perfect example of a guy not throwing accurately who helps his team win way more than some fo the better throwers out there.

3 straight NFCC appearances testify to that.

5) No Running game Buckhalter out for the year all they have is guys that can come off the bench. IMO none have proved to be starting material when they can last 16 games then they qualify

4) Mcnabbs inconsistant (unless throwing duck balls at recievers feet or INTs)
then he's all ways accurate

3) No other recievers besides Owens to step up and make plays

2) there defense has holes Linebacker, Corner, Defensive end, Hollis Thomas coming back may help. but the lose of Kalu for the year has hurt them greatly

1) Andy Reid some how some way all ways finds a way to bury his team neck deep in s***. by calling the same bone head calls that he knows don't work
but calls them any ways

See NFCCG for further refernce

.

I'd like to argue that McNabb is 1 dimensional, while Manning can't run, McNabb can't throw

Defense got them to the first two, and God-awful play calling by Sherman got them to the last one. They were more lucky in games than we were last year and should have been a 7 or 8 win team.

McNabb is the best QB in the division (maybe even the conference) hands down. He's at least as talented as Culpepper and a better leader. He's younger than Favre, more experienced than Delhomme, and sturdier than Vick. Stop hating on the guy, he's very good.

Owens will cause trouble for opposing secondaries. He's only ever caused trouble with his mouth because of his competitiveness. I agree with TO that you look stupid when you lose because you don't inlcude him in the gameplan. Did you miss that in your face 80+ yarder against Ray Lewis and Baltimore?

I'll agree he's had a hard time staying healthy, but when he does he's a very good pass rusher. Now I do think he's not physical enough for the NFC East, but you have to admit he's better than what they've had there last season.

I'll buy this, but at some point the young talent they drafted has to stand on its own. This relative inexperience is mitigated by their excellent coaching and fantastic FS, Brian Dawkins.

This is a problem as Westbrook can't be an every down runner, especially in the NFC East. It will have to be running by smoke and mirrors again in Philly.

I think Philly will falter beacuse of a general lack of depth and a tendency for the league around them to get better. Owens will be a huge factor, but outside of him Philly has slid backwards in too many other areas to seriously contend. It will take a quantum leap forward from Donovan McNabb for Philly to advance this year. Maybe Owens can be that catalyst-- I know a bunhc of Philly fans who are hoping so.

This is a given. The question is; when does it happen? My guess is week 8 against the Ravens. TO will remind us of Chris Carter screaming at Culpepper a couple years ago.

Culpepper and hassleback are better.

I agree that he is overrated. Rush was right, that is why he was attacked so quickly and viciously. But he is still a good QB. He always finds a way to get the job done.

2. Owens will cause trouble. He'll hold out as long as he can, but it won't take too long for him to get upset with McNabb. He complained about Garcia, wait until he plays a few games with McNabb. You're absolutely correct. Owens is a cancer. He will always be a cancer. Any team that he plays for will suffer from that Cancer until it is removed.

3. Kearse will get hurt. He already is. It will continue. Everyone wants to talk about Testaverde getting hurt because he is 40. This is a prime example of the fact that age doesn't always matter. I have nothing to add to these, they are all spot on.

I still believe that the division will come down to Philthy and Dallas.
