Count with me. Each decade is 10 years . You can double check if you wish.
1960 to 1969 is 10 years.
1970 to 1979 is 10 more years, 20 total.
1980 to 1989 is 10 more years, 30 total.
1990 to 1999 is 10 more years, 40 total.
2000 to 2008 is 9 years, 49 total.
Therefore 2009 is 50 years. In case you doubt this the 25 year anniversary of the team by your math would have been 1985. Look it up, they wore the silver anniversary patches in 1984.
This is the 50th season for the Cowboys. They may not actually be 50 years old until January 28, 2010, but this is 50 years.
1960-1961 is one year even by math 1969-1960 = 9.
I guarantee they will celebrate 50 years
next year. The birthday would be January 1960 so until 2010 it won't be a year.
I was born August 2, 1960 - making me 49, I celebrate fifty next year. Nothing begins at one year old, You must complete a year in order celebrate a year.
Are newborns considered one year old the day they are born?
Here is how to properly count the years:
1960-1961 = 1 year old, or one season in the books.
1961-1962 = 2
1962-1963 = 3
1963-1964 = 4
1964-1965 = 5
1965-1966 = 6
1966-1967 = 7
1967-1968 = 8
1968-1969 = 9
1969-1970 = 10 = equals a decade of life!!!
Think back - when did you celebrate becoming 10 years old, 20, etc?
Respectfully I understand you calling this
the 50th season (not anniversary), this same logic came up for the year 2000 and when a millennium or a century is completed. I agree this season will be the 50th and is one reason there is a count-down of the top players on the official website. Lets hope the Cowboys can really celebrate the 50th with something outside of a number.
I was responding to the question "is this the 50th anniversary?" - it will not happen until next year.
