I didn't necessarily think RJ would make the final roster, but I also thought they would draft a more complete running back earlier in the draft. Since they didn't, RJ's absence from this list does raise some eyebrows!
Agree.

Need a RB who can block.

Here ya go!

I think Turpin is released, and only 2 QB's is a mistake.

What do you think is wrong here?

QB:
Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush

RB (4):
Tony Pollard, Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis, Hunter Luepke

WR (6):
CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup, Jalen Tolbert, Simi Fehoko, KaVontae Turpin

TE (3):
Luke Schoonmaker, Jake Ferguson, Peyton Hendershot

O-Line (9):
Tyron Smith, Tyler Smith, Tyler Biadasz, Zack Martin, Terence Steele, Chuma Edoga, Matt Waletzko, Asim Richards, T.J. Bass

D-Line (10):
DeMarcus Lawrence, Osa Odighizuwa, Mazi Smith, Micah Parsons, Dante Fowler, Dorance Armstrong, Sam Williams, Johnathan Hankins, Chauncey Golston, Viliami Fehoko

LB (5):
Leighton Vander Esch, Damone Clark, DeMarvion Overshown, Jabril Cox, Devin Harper

CB (6):
Trevon Diggs, Stephon Gilmore, Jourdan Lewis, DaRon Bland, Kelvin Joseph, Nahshon Wright

S (5):
Donovan Wilson, Jayron Kearse, Malik Hooker, Israel Mukuamu, Markquese Bell

ST (3):
Bryan Anger, Trent Sieg, kicker not currently on the roster
Farniok will be the 53 man roster.

Jabril Cox is on very thin ice. I think DL Bohanna might have a better chance than Cox.

The CB draft pick likely makes it.

UDFAs rarely get claimed but draft picks often get claimed.
- Luepke & Bass practice squad as of the initial cut to 53.

I don't see all 3 of these CBs staying: Lewis, Joseph, Wright
- If neither Joseph or Wright can claim the 4th CB spot in their 3rd season...what's the point.
- Joseph would have the edge due to special teams.
- If 1 of Joseph or Wright can claim the 4th spot, then why pay 5M to Lewis?
- The fact that Mukuamu is a backup option at CB does not help the 3 players above.

Most likely 53. Only other players who I feel could be cut is Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright.
One of the two are not going to be a Dallas Cowboy when the 2023 regular season gets underway.
My guess is Wright; Joseph's ST play gives him a leg up as long as both show improvement in being CORNERBACKS during training camp and preseason.
However - if the rooks Eric Scott Jr., Myles Brooks, and D' Angelo Myles come in show out at The Star - then later in Oxnard - the two 2021 2nd and 3rd round picks could be on their way out.

'Cowboys Wire' - along with many CZers here - have anointed Luepke to making the squad.
50-50 on Vaughn.
Simi and Tolbert better take advantage of being incumbents = knowledge of the offense and thus vastly improve to make the 53 over newcomers.

I think that Luepke does make the team amd plays several positions. Running back, fullback, H back, and tight end.
Agreed. I think his utility is going to be too good to cut. Plus as of now they dont really have much in the way of power running. That could change, but even if it does, I still think he would be a good bet for the final roster

I think if Scott has a strong TC and preseason, he'll likely get the 5th spot. 4 years of contract control VS 2 could be a big tie breaker. If that happens, Wright/ Josephs play may determine if they are cut VS traded

Big questions need to be answered on offense. Lot of “if’s” going on. If Schoonmaker plays well, if Gallup is back, if Tolbert improves, if a left guard can be found, if Pollard is 100%.

You think they keep 4 TE's and Luepke?
I do.

Don’t sleep on Princeton Fant.

Has experience playing attached, offset, and in the slot. Used in a variety of different blocking schemes in kick-outs, down blocks, and screens. Plus blocker that likely needs a 1-2 to polish up. Can pass, block, run and catch.

Me thinks this is more of a rough draft......because the WR group is questionable with Tolbert and Fehoko in there. Also CB with Joseph and Wright you might want to put it in pencil. RB group is what i expect.... yes, Davis AND Deuce make it if healthy. As for Ronald Jones .., he ain't "one of our guys" so the FO is not completely all in on him. They did get him for a year and a cap hit of under $1m.. I like he is only 25 with some upside if healthy. That will be quite a conundrum. On the OL, i would like our young guys like Richards, Bass, Waletzko, Bostic and Chuma step up and become relevant. I like the starters but we need backup ready to go.

As far as defensively, i have more trust in DQ and know he will get the best out of those they decide to keep. And he does have some great talent to work with.

They can do a lot with him. Power runner, blocker, receiver, can play various positions. They can do a lot of different packages with him, Vaughn, Schoonmaker, Ferguson, Hendershot, and Pollard.

I bet Turpin makes the team...
Whatever you do don’t be at the farm because the addition of Vaughn could make Turpin expendable. With the big deal made about drafting Vaughn he’s virtually a lock to make the team at least this year. They’ll use him on KO returns and he may get a shot to return punts. The Cowboys will try and utilize Vaughn every way they can including the passing game, which doesn’t bode well for Turpin. Both players are undersized and a decision may have to be made between the two.

The 6th round corner is making the team at cornerback. The Cowboys traded a pick in next years draft to move up and get him.
