Anybody have a profile on TJ Bass? First time hearing of him and pushing some more well known players off the team. UDFA?

Lol I would wager I bunch of money that the RB4 listed doesn't make the 53

I wish WR was better. It's like they were able to convince the Texans to practically give away Cooks and thought that was more than enough.

It's not. We've seen this QB fail with better weapons than this.
I read that TY Hilton wants to return. I wouldn't be surprised if he was around mid-way through training camp which I think would finish off the WR group nicely.

Just my take:

Turpin was ranked 30th in the NFL in average kick-off return yards. That's really not very good. I was shocked he made the pro-bowl. He also made some horrible decisions. As a WR, he's a limited specialty player at best. He does have value, but a team can only keep so many specialty players on the roster. I think Dallas keeps Deuce, and let's Turpin walk. They'll use Turpin's spot for a WR that actually has developmental potential. I'm prepared to be wrong!
Top 5 in punt return per attempt

And 24.52 yard per kickoff return is very solid.

Whatever you do don’t be at the farm because the addition of Vaughn could make Turpin expendable. With the big deal made about drafting Vaughn he’s virtually a lock to make the team at least this year. They’ll use him on KO returns and he may get a shot to return punts. The Cowboys will try and utilize Vaughn every way they can including the passing game, which doesn’t bode well for Turpin. Both players are undersized and a decision may have to be made between the two.
He has to actually return the ball effectively in preseason

I would put Bostick in over Bass at the moment. Bass is a typical practice squad upside guard with massive potential.

6’5”, 318, 3 year starter at LG and LT (mostly LT). Powerful player with solid base and overall good in the run game. Super physical. But not great in space which is why he is better at guard. Short arms and smaller frame which profiles more as a guard than tackle.

Not great film against Georgia (nobody really does outside of Alabama typically). Love the upside for this kid though.

He’s nasty and mean. Bully type of player. Love him inside next to Tyler.

This is what I’ve seen and studied watching Oregon games and input from the experts as well.

He was a lot better than that suggests. Also, make sure you use a correct minimum attempts when calculating average return yards. Some of those guys had one big return in only a handful of attempts.

On top of that, dude muffed 1 (maybe 2) kicks all year after 2 years straight of football. His “bad decisions” were mostly getting caught by the last line of defense. All in all I think we have really made it a point to remember the mistakes because the highs weren’t TD’s.

I think RJ makes it over Malik. If Malik impresses we may see Deuce on the PS.

Farniok over Bass on O-line. We’ll carry 4 TE’s and McKeon likely makes the team again.

There will be a couple surprises on defense too. We’ll probably see a CB and DE cut that people expect to make the team. I’ll go with Bossman and Fowler.
IMHO, if Deuce goes to the PS, he’ll get poached.

Me thinks this is more of a rough draft......because the WR group is questionable with Tolbert and Fehoko in there. Also CB with Joseph and Wright you might want to put it in pencil. RB group is what i expect.... yes, Davis AND Deuce make it if healthy. As for Ronald Jones .., he ain't "one of our guys" so the FO is not completely all in on him. They did get him for a year and a cap hit of under $1m.. I like he is only 25 with some upside if healthy. That will be quite a conundrum. On the OL, i would like our young guys like Richards, Bass, Waletzko, Bostic and Chuma step up and become relevant. I like the starters but we need backup ready to go.

As far as defensively, i have more trust in DQ and know he will get the best out of those they decide to keep. And he does have some great talent to work with.
Nice post.
I'm not the biggest believer in 4 of last year's holdover depth at WR or CB either. Fehoko, Tolbert, Joseph and Wright need to fully show as deserving of roster spots thru open TC competition.

18th in the NFL per NFL.com
He was 9th in per return average of those with at least 20 returns.

But it is interesting. I dont pay much attention to punt returners league wide. I would have thought he was higher.

Id be totally on board with replacing him with somone who could contribute outside of return duties.

Here ya go!

I think Turpin is released, and only 2 QB's is a mistake.

What do you think is wrong here?

I don’t think Simi Fehoko or Turpin are any sort of locks for the team.

I’d have Matt Farniok on the 53.

I don’t think Jourdan Lewis or Nahshon Wright are certain to be around for week one.

Turpin is on think ice. If it’s Turpin or Deuce, Turpin loses out.
Problem with that is Duece not fielding punts in college. And its not something you can just jump in and do, not at the NFL level.

Its certainly why he was doing it on his pro day. Thats why I think he'll end up on the practice squad. Its a win win. They keep him around with the plan on "developing" him, but not using a roster spot for him.

I think there will be 4-5 people on the final 53 to start the season that aren’t here yet.
