Maybe try not running out of a 2 back 2 tight end set in the middle of the field so much and we could run the ball more effectively.

I don't know if you have been reading Bob Sturm's blog, but the Cowboys have actually been having a lot of success running out of that formation so I can't totally fault them on that one.

Yes but we do it so much that at some point if you don't pass out of the formation NFL teams are going to know you are running and they will shut it down if they can identify a run before the ball is snapped.

I think the OP has a point. When your running game shows that it's inept, clearly you need to run the ball more.
Absolutely. It's the last thing they would expect!

Garrett screwed us again!! Look, I know that we only had 45 yards rushing on 23 carries. The problem is the way we run. ONE run from the i-formation? Garrett has NO CLUE how to call on offense. Almost all Cowboy runs today were either delays, tosses or Razorback set. Its frigging ridiculous!! This team should follow the Commanders' lead and strip Garrett of play calling duties and let someone who doesn't have their head up their butt call the offense!!
Don't talk about time of possession either. This was a game just like the last Giants game: a game the Cowboys should have DOMINATED by running the ball and controlling the clock.

Hey Garrett, ESTABLISH the run THEN you can try to work the ball down the field.

I'm at the point with this idiot that if he comes back next year, I may not even watch anymore. He' worse than David Shula. Hell, bring back Chan instead of Jason. Bring back Barry and run the wishbone even. Anything will be better than the red headed idiot!!!

:laugh2:

Did you watch the game?

Speaking of idiots, they're out in full force tonight.

I stand corrected about the clock but someone please tell me how you manage to keep the ball for 38 minutes, pass 55 times, and only end up with 17 pts.. (the last 7 was token game over pts). So lame. Run the damn ball.

You didn't watch the game. There was no run to establish. Ridiculous blown coverage, a ridiculous fumble by Barber, and a ridiculous breakdown in punt coverage yielded 21 gift-wrapped points for the Giants.

We passed 55 times and lost by 7. Not bad.

As Bob pointed out, that's a formation that signals pretty heavily that the Cowboys are going to run. So I don't think the success they had in that formation before this game was from catching the opponent by surprise.

They killed drives by....running and losing yardage. That and a missed FG, and a fumble, and Barber twice failing to get a first down, and a drop.
Running the ball continually led to negative plays.

Pretty sure they did control the clock.

23 runs + 41 completions = 64 plays where the clock could be moving at the end of the play.

The Giants clearly game planned to stop our running game. That is why Romo blew up. Consistently running the ball today would have only increased the margin of defeat. The only time we scored is when we threw the ball. The case can be made that we should have not ran the ball at all in the 2nd half. Almost everytime we did it went poorly for us.
