5th Round QBs

SJones stated we will be looking to draft a QB. Now there's a lot of off-season left before draft but we know they won't pay Lance and they shouldn't. Rush made a post basically saying he will be moving on.

Both Adams and Schotty prefer play action orientated efficient structured passing attack functional mobility not elite mobility seems to be preference though all 3 have worked with mobile QBs.

With that in mind who you looking at in 5th?

I'd consider some small-school guys that late who might can be developed.

Zach Zebrowski, Central Missouri, won the Harlon Hill Trophy the last two years, completing 69 percent of his passes in 2023 for more than 5,000 yards and 61 TDs, while only throwing 5 interceptions. He passed for nearly 5,000 yards and 40 TDs in 2024, while also rushing for almost 600 yards and 10 TDs.

Probably just a UDFA, but I'd waste a late-rounder on him.

Tommy Mellott, with the system Schottenheimer is going to run. I am once again pumping up Tommy Mellott.

Tommy is a small school prospect who's competition sucked. It's hard to tell how good of a QB he is because his offense at Montana State was so, so gimmicky.

It's hard to tell for me whether he is a really good QB, or if he's just out athleting guys. He makes up for his 6'0 height with great pocket presence, and what I would bet is a 4.42 forty. He outruns really fast defenders. Pulls away from them.

All I do know is that if you watch the plays at 14:21,14:55, and 17:42, you will get what I'm talking about when I say I see a bit of "it factor". Those are NFL caliber plays.



Anyway. Kyle McCord is a better prospect and I'd take him in the 5th in a heartbeat.

I think Gabriel carves out a nice role in the NFL at the least, and could potentially be pretty good.

To me, it depends on his arms strength. Because I think the brain and accuracy are absolutely there.

I think I came away more impressed with the short, fast receiver, No. 14. Mellott showed some legs, but a lot of those passes were behind the receivers and probably would have ended up as interceptions in the NFL.

I like Rourke a lot but he's the classic dropback QB. Not sure why he isn't rated higher....

Was able to get to know him at UCF. Super smart kid and talented. Reminds of Kellen Moore. Winner, smart, not the best arm strength. But will be a solid QB2

Yes, Rourke is another one. Playing the season with ACL says a lot about him, and he produced. I'm ready for a QB standing tall at 6'5 throwing darts, there's like 4 or 5 of them this draft.

I think the national media is just now getting to the guys not labeled as 1st or 2nd rounders, so a guy like Rourke could rise.

WR Coach Junior Adams knows everything there is to know about Gabriel, and it's highly likely Dillon has a sponsor in the building. DG can throw a quality deep ball, hope he throws at the Combine.

That is one advantage of having some new faces ( from colleges and other teams ) on the coaching staff. A ton of good info on free agents and draft players.
