Brown probably started more games but whatever.. I am thrilled with his potential.

To get a guy in the 6th round that is playing like a 1st rounder at corner is huge.

Also, you look at his size and speed and you gotta wonder why he didn't go higher. He's got elite measurable.

I have hope for Tapper and JAylon simply because the rest of the class has been so good.

He's been a great 6th round find for us and has some nice position flex. Good tackler, great speed, intelligent, and able to move on after a bad play.... I am also hoping we can keep Carr and Claiborne next year and add some more value in the draft. Carr has already reduced his cap hit and Claiborne may stick with another "prove it" deal.

Apple is a good DB, and playing well at this early stage of his career. Using 1st rounders on DBs though is risky, IMO you need to spend those coveted picks on a player that will have constant impact. Grabbing an arguably equal player in the 6th is a recipe for long term success. So far we look we look to have hit gold on so many picks this last draft, including Brown. He has really stepped up and helped this defense

I doubt Mo takes another prove it deal with us. He will look at other options if we don't want to extend him. And I'm ok with that. Out of his whole career here, he's only had a micro short stint of good play. Other than that, he's either had poor play or hurt. I think we should look to the draft to find some replacements. As bad as Carr can be at times, he never misses a game. I would not mind him being a nickel corner going forward.

I still don't understand the hate on Carr, he rarely gives up big plays or tds but for some reason Carr gets thrown under the bus all the time.

Because Carr was paid like an ELITE CB.

That is the crux of it.

If he had been paid as a run of the mill dependable CB...So be it.

But at one time, and for some time, he was paid as a top five CB in the NFL and he did not live up to that.

When we are good and have a decent team, Carr plays great. I think his only subpar year was 2013 but other than that Carr has been very solid. If we would of had a healthy Claiborne who we traded up to pair with Carr. Carr would have been a pro bowl CB playing as the #2 CB. Carr has being very solid compared to other players who got hurt with 15 and 20 million $ salaries.

BTW we signed Carr to groom Claiborne and teach him the ends and outs but Claiborne kept getting hurt.

Carr gets ridicule because of the $$$$

I think he gets ridiculed because I bet if you checked the stats he has the most passes completed on him of anyone in the secondary. I may be wrong but that is my impression watching the games.

We signed him to a 5 year/$50 mm (elite CB money) to groom Claiborne? If that was the case I think we'd have been better off bringing in a vet; I think it was 1a and 1b situation. I was under the impression that Rob Ryan sold Jerry some smoke along the lines of "give me two CBs and I'll give you an elite defense" and that not playing out in 2012 after our massive investments in Carr and Claiborne is what got Ryan axed.

The lesson learned there is to build through the draft with guys exactly like Anthony Brown. The reason we overpaid Carr was because we had to. Our secondary in 2011 was a complete disaster, the starters in Mike Jenkins and Terrence Newman had the worst seasons of their career and we were giving significant snaps to guys like Alan Ball and Danny McCray.

That's why the turnaround of this team has happened, the last four drafts have been very good and last year's was historic.

Maybe because we paid him elite money, him and Mo gave themselves the No Fly Zone nickname before training camp and neither have been anything. If Carr was a late round pick or a low money player, then he'd be just a guy.

But he restructured his contract and isn't being paid as much as early in the season. Hes had his bad games vs elite WRs over the years, but for the most part he's done his job. And he's been better this year on the right side of the D

I love the potential that Brown has shown, but let's be honest, Apple is a much better corner. What those stats DON'T show are the many times that Brown got burnt like toast. Antonio Brown, DeSean Jackson, OBJ, etc. all had 100+ yard games against Brown. He's especially susceptible to slug-go routes, where the receiver stops & goes deep. Once he learns how to position his body better so he doesn't feel the need to bite on those, he will become even better. His safeties, especially Byron Jones, haven't backed him up very well, either. We need to take those deep balls away, so that opponents have to slug their way down the field. We'll also be better once we get another speed rusher, & another top corner.
