I still don't understand the hate on Carr, he rarely gives up big plays or tds but for some reason Carr gets thrown under the bus all the time.

Getting paid top CB money he should be making plays like P.Peterson, Sherman, Revis etc...

Now that hes making a standard CBs paycheck I think he is more than serviceable and we should retain him again on a similar contract because he is dependable (injury free) and Like you said dosent give up the big play while being able to play a solid D for us

I love the potential that Brown has shown, but let's be honest, Apple is a much better corner. What those stats DON'T show are the many times that Brown got burnt like toast. Antonio Brown, DeSean Jackson, OBJ, etc. all had 100+ yard games against Brown. He's especially susceptible to slug-go routes, where the receiver stops & goes deep. Once he learns how to position his body better so he doesn't feel the need to bite on those, he will become even better. His safeties, especially Byron Jones, haven't backed him up very well, either. We need to take those deep balls away, so that opponents have to slug their way down the field. We'll also be better once we get another speed rusher, & another top corner.

The stats don't need to show those handful of missteps. Of course he has warts, but including them he's been damn near a revelation in the secondary. And that's with a revolving secondary thrusting him into more time, with greater responsibility leading to situations where he gets left on an island with Antonio brown.

Also the obj inclusion is fairly disingenuous considering he housed a slant route 60+ yards and outran the entire team.

Apple is playing with Jenkins, DRC and Collins.

Apple was torched all day yesterday but he is a good DB. I don't know if he will become a great one.

SO a rookie got burnt by 3 of the best receivers in the league.....shocking. Did you see Eli Apple give up that Hail Mary pass last night? Far worse then anything I've seen from Brown this year..

Paging Adam or percy or whoever, need some metrics here to actually show the difference between them and other CBs.

Ain't like I'm sitting here watching Apple every Sunday, I can't stand to see the Giants even when we play them.

Brown probably started more games but whatever.. I am thrilled with his potential.

To get a guy in the 6th round that is playing like a 1st rounder at corner is huge.

Also, you look at his size and speed and you gotta wonder why he didn't go higher. He's got elite measurable.

I have hope for Tapper and JAylon simply because the rest of the class has been so good.
Brown started 10 games, Apple started 11.

The Purdue secondary was one of the worst in college football, IIRC.

He's been a great 6th round find for us and has some nice position flex. Good tackler, great speed, intelligent, and able to move on after a bad play.... I am also hoping we can keep Carr and Claiborne next year and add some more value in the draft. Carr has already reduced his cap hit and Claiborne may stick with another "prove it" deal.

Yep. I'm with you. Claiborne is still young and seems to be really coming around. Add Brown and Jones and that gives us three young DBs to build around. Continue adding corners in the middle rounds and continue try to find a better SS. Don't break the bank or spend 1st rounders on CBs. Improve the D-line early in the draft.

Seriously? That's all you got? The ENTIRE Giants secondary is in the end zone, & APPLE gave up the Hail Mary. Pathetic. Just stop-you're embarrassing yourself. Apple plays in the same division, played the same receivers, & HE didn't get owned like Brown did-that's all. I love the Brown pick, especially in the 6th round, but you can't be such a homer that you don't see any of his flaws. It doesn't help him, or the team to put blinders on.

Handful?! :p He was burned so many times this year, his nickname should be "Toast", so a "revelation" is a strong word. He's been "refreshing". He has shown some great cover skills, & he's got moxy. He just needs to learn not to jump at the first move made against him -it cost us several touchdowns. It matters. I love the pick, especially in the 6th round, and I know Brown is going to get better, but you have to be honest with yourself about the players on your team, or you just look like an uninformed homer. If you look at all of the times Brown gave up a deep TD, over 90% of the time Byron Jones is either trailing badly from taking a bad angle, or is late getting over. I blame that partially on the defense called, & the fact that it's Jone's first full year playing safety. Both will get better, & I'm encouraged by both, but I'm also a realist.

I'm farrrrrrr from a homer (except when it comes to Dez). Believe me. But I've been thrilled by Brown and don't recall all these times he was burned. The Desean td sticks out obviously and was ugly? But it happens and that was really the main occasion I can think of, beyond simply not being able to prevent Antonio Brown from doing what he does to every corner he faced despite covering him about as well as can be expected. I REALLY like the kid, in general, but when viewed through the lens of being a 6th round pick thrust into not only the role of a starter, but all that was asked with the copious injuries... yeah I'll stand by the revelation comment. And certainly have zero qualms liking him over Apple.

I hope they keep one of them.

Reminds me of the UPS slogan, "What can Brown do for you?"

I may need you to market my company..just make sure you come up with something new though! Can't afford the lawsuit...but witty post!

First off, I never said he had no flaws. Secondly, all I did was ask you a question. The only flaws you brought up were he got beat deep by Antonio Brown, Desean Jackson and ODB. Guys who beat everyone deep. So essentially he has the same flaws as most corners.

And let's don't kid ourselves. Janoris Jenkins was the one on those guys.

I never even said Brown was better than Apple. I'm saying if only thing bad you can say about him is he got beat deep a few times by the beat receivers in the game? You take it.

More proof you do not need to go corner crazy in the first round.

Find the player with the traits you want and then go.

Often teams overdraft corners who carry high grades without regard to what they do and what scheme they are in.

Seen a lot of teams draft highly rated corners and just think it is plug and play, without regard to what they were asked to do in college.

A good "shutdown" man corner in college may be that, but how was the rush? That is why a good "zone" type corner slips into the middle rounds because teams sometimes lose perspective.

It seems elementary, but it happens every year.
