That just means TJ Has more talent then Harper not Chad.
Hostile;2068014 said:Harper never led the NFL in receptions.
Welker was not the #3 WR in New England. Moss was #1 on TD grabs alone.coach316;2068037 said:Perhaps not...however Houshmanzadeh shared the lead in number of receptions with Wes Welker at 112 for 2007. So does that mean that Wes Welker is the #1 receiver in New England too...or was he the #3? Hmmmmm.....

Chad has really disappointed me with his antics......how many times did he go after and blame Palmer? I know he wants the ball....but times Palmer looks for him and Chad runs the wrong routes.
Roy would be nice but how much are we giving up for a WR that gets nicked up as much as Roy does?
The guy in Arizona sure looks like the one I would target........
Your crazy. If you look at the longest catch and yards per catch you will see that Chad has more home run ability then TJ. When you are up against a player with that type of home run ability you have to double some times triple team him thats why TJ has benefited from Chad not the other way around.Hostile;2068127 said:Welker was not the #3 WR in New England. Housh had more receptions, more TDs, and Chad Johnson himself said Housh is the #1 WR. He said that when he was asked if he could be the #2 in Dallas behind TO. He said he is already a #2 in Cincy behind Housh.
Now, having said that, I am in no way saying Chad is not a #1 quality WR. I am merely saying he benefits hugely from Housh on the other side.
Valor;2068214 said:No thanks. It just doesn't make sense in terms of his age, temperament, salary, compensation owed to Cincy, etc. As for RW, I think I'd take Greg Jennings over him.
ETex;2068458 said:Count me in with the Ocho Cinco camp. The guy has gotten a bad rep for no reason IMHO. He likes the camera; SO WHAT???? Which one of our players seeks every camera in the stadium out when he's on the field? (hint: It's the same one who said he'd love to play with CJ)
So lets see; Doesn't get hurt, doesn't fumble and averages 1,339.33 yards/season (w/o his rookie year). I'd give up a 1st and a 2nd in a heartbeat for that. Throw in Carp and Roy for good measure. How many teams have been burnt on 1st round recievers??? This guy is a proven commodity. BTW: He is 30yrs old. Question would be; how much longer can he produce at this level? Ask T.O.

ETex;2068527 said:If I had Jerry's money.....YES He11 Yes
The salary cap looks to be history in what 2 years; just structure his contract with that in mind.
In essesence we'll have (2) #1 recievers.

RW is so overrated here its silly. He had one good season and has been hurt every other dating back to college. He is unfocused doesnt practice hard and is a bad route runner.
Give us 85 for the next 4 years and well be putting those Pats offensive records to shame.
85 is good for 30 more catches and 500 more yards a season and that is year after year. Take away RWs only good year and his production is putrid. Take away 85s best year and his production is the same.
RW cannot hold 85's jock.

Hostile;2067927 said:I would much rather have Roy Williams than Chad Johnson and it has nothing to do with the University of Texas.
First he is 4 years younger. I would like a WR who can come in and take over the #1 role of TO and man that for 6 or 7 years at least. Otherwise all we are doing is looking for a #1 WR sooner. I would like to not have to look for a while. Chad Johnson is a #2 WR. Houshmanzadeh is the #1 in Cincy. Chad benefits from that. Williams is the #1 guy in Detroit. He is the one defenses are most likely to double team and he still puts up numbers.
I think they are about equal talent but one has a far superior QB. That would be Chad Johnson. No one can tell me they think Kitna is better than Palmer and keep a straight face.
Put Roy Williams in our Offense and he will be better than he already is because they cannot ever double team him. I think he's easily capable of double digit TDs and if teams double team him or TO they will be committing suicide.
Finally there's this whole off season spectacle going on. I love Chad Johnson and think he's hilarious, but I do not respect the way he is tearing his team apart. Meanwhile Roy Williams has said the right things and for the most part not drawn attention to anything. On a team that already has TO, the Tony and Jessica paparazzi, and now Pacman Jones, I just would prefer not to add Chad's antics.
If we get Chad I will be stoked. I think WR opposite TO is the missing piece. I just would prefer the younger guy who passionately loves this team.

Think a lot of guys in your camp are missing one thing.
Thats just how good C. Johnson is.
If you polled 100 GM's and top scouts to list the top 5 WRs.
Base it on what they did last year and what's expected this year.
I'm guessing Chad's on just about every top 5 list. He's that good.
He has a very well rounded game that appeals to all coaches.
He's fast and quick. Tall with long arms and excellent ball skills giving him a huge catching radius. Surprisingly strong and breaks press coverage.
Runs great routes and has great fundamentals. Very natural catching the ball. Just plucks it. Consistent hands and also makes the super catch.
He doesnt have a weakness in his game.
Johnson would team very well with Owens and Witten.
That'd be our best trio since Hill, Pearson and Cosbie.

jobberone said:Yep. If you could almost guarantee yourself a SB with that 9 million would you?
stasheroo;2068548 said:Given that the team needs to re-sign Barber, Hamlin, Owens, Newman, and Ware, that's a lot of high-end contracts needing to be done.
Throw in close to $10 million a year for Chad Johnson and I don't know if even Jerry could handle that.
ETex;2068583 said:With the revenue he'll be generating from 16-150K PSL rights on "Jerrah World" plus the 2 billion he'll get from calling it "jerrah's world" @ the AT&T Center, he could buy 10 Chad Johnsons.
