A Dak Extension Will Overtake Firing Jimmy Johnson As Jerry's Biggest Mistake

If Dak is given an extension you are guaranteeing failure.

I don't care if there is currently no plan in place for life after Dak. I don't care if the Lance trade really was just for a 3rd string QB.

The unknown right now is better than the known that Dak brings you.

You will NEVER find a high level QB if you strap yourself to low level QBs.

We've not ever looked for a legit QB since Romo got the job. That was almost 20 years ago!

The only thing worse than having Dak as the QB is that Jerry doesn't care that Dak is the QB.

Complaining about Dak is EASY.

A plan for an upgrade is NOT EASY.

This isn't a useful thread. We know Dak's not elite.

Tell us how we land an elite QB. "Try" isn't a plan. We're trying. Trading for Trey Lance is "trying."

Be specific. What's the plan???

Andy Reid knew Alex Smith wasn't the guy. McVay knew Goff wasn't the guy. Shanahan knew Jimmy G and even Trey Lance weren't the guys. Howie knew Wentz wasn't the guy.

We are still hoping that 8 years later, this guy will catch fire. It doesn't happen in this league. Now, Jerry is in a position where an extension is almost 100 percent happening because that backloaded contract he currently has is packaged with absurd cap hits.

But don't worry. We'll win 9-10 games, Jerry will sell the hopium, we'll get bounced early in the playoffs and we'll line up and do it again next year.

No I can't agree with that. Firing Jimmy and thinking he could be a GM was his biggest mistake. If he extends Dak it will just show what an awful GM he really is.

They are paying him a boat load of money when Cooper Rush could play just as bad for a hell of a lot cheaper than this knucklehead! And Purty makes what, $90,000.00 a year.

It's like a 1 and a 1a at this point.
They're pretty close.

So Shanahan knew to get Jimmy and Trey injured in order to give Purdy a shot?

Right in all of your points.

Still i think the new contract is a given. We dont have no options in 2025. We already have 36.5 mills in dead cap invested in him and thats his first void year. Were do you find a starting caliber QB you cant pay more than 5 mils in that year and without handing out a signing bonus ?

Even if Lance pans out he is also due to a new contract in 2025. Talk about great management!

This is Daks third year in a row where you could see a drastic decline in his play. Beforehand i couldnt imagine that the guy would have even been able to play any worse than he did in his first years. But boy did he prove me wrong.

Still i think with all the talent he is surrounded with he is able to keep JJ in the conversation and so give him the revenue he is looking for.

I lost my believe that Prescott will be shown the door right after MM signed his contract without even considering a new QB. He quietly accepted the new deal for Prescott and signed his own. For a HC that knows a bit about good QB play that was all i needed to know. MM is not about winning. Prescott is here to stay as long as he is able to keep us in the conversation.

So, as Kendrik Lamar once said (rephrased it with my own words): Dallas cowboys fans be humble.

Dak got humbled.

Why can't you?

I told you like 3 different times last night what they should do.

I'll tell you again: TRY. It's simple. You TRY to improve the position and not handcuff yourself to a bum.

Why does it seem we have people here that would've wanted to keep Alex Smith instead of trading up for Mahomes? Because Alex Smith was comfortable.

100% Agreed! Maybe it’s Lance and maybe it’s not but we are getting pretty dam close to having to find out. Can Lance be worse than what we currently have? I think not, 23yrs old vs 30 and at least he would be a hell of a lot faster than Dak. Will never know what he has unless we take the risk and put him out on the field. No way I re up Dak at this point for another 4 years.

indeed. Dak is already the most costly mistake in the franchise history and will probably linger for another 3 years , making it an 11 year debacle

I asked for a SPECIFIC plan.

You can't offer one because you don't have one.

We traded for Trey Lance. That is "trying."

The 49ers totally lucked into a monster at QB. Their original "plan" wasn't working and then the football gods smiled upon them.

Jerry doesn’t want to let him go the same reason he held onto Zeke and Jaylon smith too long. He’s scared they will go somewhere else and make him look bad.

When in reality an extension would be the worse thing you can do.

You cannot resign this guy. You wanna give him next year to prove himself fine but anything less than an nfc title game this or next year snd goodbye

It wouldn’t. Jimmy getting fired set this team back 30 years. The Dak team extension will only do about 5

Their original plan wasn't working?

They literally went to the Super Bowl and multiple NFC Championship games with their original plan.
