A DC that checks all the boxes!

Mike Pettine

-former HC of the browns
-firmilar with Schott as he was the dc when he was the oc with the jets. Reportedly still has a strong relationship with.
-runs a hybrid, attacking scheme that employs a lot of man coverages
-is currently on Brian Flores staff with the Vikings

Pettine 12-20 as a HC I think Dallas can do better

Quinn was the last DC to get the best out of this group and even he had issues.
Changing DCs and Schemes over and over has not panned out.
I think it did pan out with Quinn. If someone is failing then they need to be replaced. I think in general the league is far too conservative in firing failing coaches. There are so many shockingly unqualified coaches hanging around in the league for ages and ages. In my opinion, it’s general very clear after less than one season whether a coach is going to work out or not. If he’s failing, replace him.

Look to the west. Although he’s the DC of my favorite college team the kid is talented. Sheil Wood. His arrow is through the roof!!
I hope this is the type of hire to at least the defensive staff qe see. I think he will want to go with an experienced Pro DC and add college coaches ala Riley

Lack of overall talent on the field trumps scheme or coaching.
I don't disagree but I think surely some other coaches could have gotten more out of what we have. Also, would they have brought in some of the ones he brought in.

Former team doing great without him is also another consideration.

K, I'm listening. I like so far.

Quinn was the only recent one worth keeping.
But getting rid of Eberflus does not mean you will get a new one that will solve the problems here.
Idk man, I think scheme is a huge problem with Eberflus. He runs the stupid Monte Kiffin defense that he learned under Maranelli. The worst unit on this defense was his specialty, the linebackers. So I think there will be improvement if hes removed. Just need to find a DC who can use what we have and we can have here for a few years.

Well, maybe if they had offered Quinn more money to stay on as DC, he might have done so. Our front office let Al Harris go too easily. It’s not that we have a revolving door at the defensive coaching position; it’s that our front office doesn’t understand the importance of continuity and hires friends rather than valuing merit.

Cowboyny---- i will try to text Jerry to grab him???....i wish

But Quinn has been the only DC that has made a difference in years.

Nolan, Quinn, Zimmer and Eberflus.

I would rather see if the commmanders fired Quinn and bring him back. He would still know many of the players and they would know his system.

This team needs a better DC. Problem is there is no guarantee we get a better one if they get rid of Flus.

What if Jerry gets rid of Flus and the other Ryan brother gets hired?
anyone but Ryan...i would still bring back Fluse if it was choice of Fluse and Ryan?...but what do i know

It doesn't, but when you've been as bad as Eberflus or Nolan, you have to give a new one a try. Hopefully, we'll get one worth keeping for a few years like we did with Quinn. I still think some fans hold it against him that he was only able to do so much with what he was given, but at least he did a lot more with it than Eberflus has.

No it has not, but investing time and resources into a scheme that's being shredded every week is a losing proposal. I'm all ears if Quinn becomes available.

The Vikings defense is terrible. Why hire their DC who hasn't had any success this year except againt the boys??
