Why? Free is playing decent football. Some people just never let a hate cat go

Pull up the emergency brake buddy. I'm one of the biggest Free fans there is but his surgery, age and contract running out makes me think it's time to get a replacement in line.If I understand things right his contract is up this year, that makes him an older over achieving lineman. hes a *** buster and someone I would use as an example. No hate just wanna be ready for him to leave.

I think Parnell has a good shot to be the future RT. His experience is lacking, but he has all the tools.

‘Tis the season of lies and rumors for the NFL Draft. Every day leading up to May 8th, you will hear that a team likes this player, doesn’t like another and so on. And looking back at these whispers, they rarely hold any weight. But some in fact, do. This week, I heard a rumor from someone close to the Cowboys organization about a potential draft pick come May. What I heard was that the Cowboys have heavy interest in Virginia tackle Morgan Moses, who could possibly be a selection for the team in the second round. The Cowboys officially met with Moses at the Senior Bowl and that is when my ears first perked up. So this rumor and the possible interest isn’t coming out of nowhere.

Another note that was given to me is that the Dallas front office loves taking the highest rated player at a position if possible. I know that seems like a given and a pretty obvious statement, but it make sense. Look at the some of their last few drafts:

2010: WR Dez Bryant
2011: LT Tyron Smith
2012: CB Morris Claiborne
2013: C Travis Frederick

Read the Morgan Moses scouting report and the rest of the article at: http://all22breakdown.com/?p=893

Thanks for the info.........................looks like Doug Free might be out of a job soon............you don't draft a RT in the 2nd round to be a backup.

Salary related, not hate related.................We can save $3 million dollars by replacing Free, who still happens to be making a lot of money to just be playing "decently".

Free isn't a superstar but he's not the problem.

I didn't say he was, but let's call a spade a spade here:

He IS on the final year of his contract...
He has NOT been a consistent player for whatever reasons...

He is a concern going forward and something that needs to have a handle put upon sooner rather than later.
Agreed, or no?

I like Moses. He will likely be gone by our second pick.

Could see him as a target in a trade down, along with Ford, Chricton, and a couple others

I think this year they will emphasize defense in the draft. They've already invested two recent first round picks in the line and last year didn't pick defense until Wilcox in round 3.

Iif a guy is not all that good as a higher round pick why pick him at all- if the guy is not looking like he will be much good as a player why pick him at any time?

you only draft players you believe will be a good starter or at the very least a decent backup. And frankly I would never draft a guy I thought COULD NOT be a good starter. Don't care where.

I can't confirm it, but I saw a report that indicated that Free's base salary becomes guaranteed for 2014 if he is on the roster after March. The Cowboys have been bad about playing guys just because they are getting paid more than their backup.

Whether correct or not, thanks for the information. Always like to hear stuff that relates to actual football.

This.

I actually want an o-lineman in the 2nd round -- either guard or tackle. I hope they go d-line, o-line, and LB in the 1st three rounds with d-line again in the 4th.

Moses is a possibility in the 2nd but I do not think he is as good a player as Doug Free.
He is younger and would be cheaper so worth the look if they feel he is a true RT that can start for years.
