A few concerns about Lamb

I think outside of QB there is really no position that puts us over the top on the team.

I think adding a Joey Bosa Or Von Miller type of guy Might be the only other thing.

Right now the biggest impact we could get is from our coaching staff.

McCarthy wants to see Dak around 71% completions so to me that means we will see a lot of shorter throws similar to what New England has been doing.
If Dak isn’t enough it’s not going to matter unless we have a defense to carry him.

And there’s nothing wrong with questioning his opinion. Especially when he says Cee Dee Lamb is not a great athelete.

I see what he's saying though. Lamb isn't an elite athlete. His vertical is pretty ordinary and his speed isn't the best. Nothing wrong with saying that.

First off let me say that if Dallas didn’t pick Lamb or Chaisson then they failed with their pick.

I had Lamb as my best WR in the 1st round but not necessarily the best fit for Dallas.

When I watch Lamb he is an incredible open field runner and he can win 50/50 throws.

Here is some of my concerns:

1. He’s not that great of an athlete..

4.51 40 and 34 inch vertical point to a lack of explosiveness. When you watch him he just kind of floats. He doesn’t have that quick suddenness in his route or a lot of top end speed to separate at the top of routes

2. He played with 3 Heisman candidates in a conference that plays no defense on the best team. We constantly got to watch him play in a ton of space.

3. Dak... Dak tends to like the separation receivers and isn’t going to throw guys open or give his guy chances to make a play on the ball.

Dallas got the pick right.. I’m just not as sold as this being a total slam dunk simply because I’m not 100% sold on what he does translating to the pro’s and our QB’s strengths specifically.

Eh, Daks completion percentage into tight windows/little space is actually really good. Top 5 in the NFL iirc from PFF stats. I'm really not worried about his fit. I'm worried about the defensive side of the ball..

To calm your concerns:
1. Film don't lie
2. Film still don't lie
3. Heisman candidates played with him too.
4. Film still don't lie

We shall see.....No draft pick for any team is proven until proven.

In college the film can lie bigtime because some guys only play in space.

There is an extreme lack of space in the NFL.. There is a lot more now then there used to be but I do get concerned about these big 12 guys and how they will translate to the NFL..

Still waiting on their best days or they are alr

And I thought I was the only Debbie Downer around here.

It's a gift to look up and see black clouds while others are putting on sunglasses.

He is not a golden boy.

It's the reason he was still there at 17.

Having said that..

he certainly improves us at a cost of zero.

There were very few defensive players who were going to really affect our results on the field.

Maybe none.

This pick is just the opposite. We will see Lamb go right on the ESPN highlight reels from Day One.

Think about immediate gratification.

Think Taco. Think Jaylon Smith. Trystan Hill?

This pick is not that.

Its win win.

some of you would have been upset with Jerry rice in his prime. It was the right pick. The Chaisson could very well have been a Taco repeat or a Ware repeat we are unsure time will tell. I think the cowboys will address defense with the next 4 picks but I also think they have some confidence that Gregory and smith will be reinstated.

My point.…..there isn't one team's draft pick headed for greatness yet, including Burrows, Chase Young and all before CeeDee…..can we let him get on the field first?

I agree and I don’t see any signs of the defense being great next year unless Aldon or Gregory just absolutely explode.

I think the main thing is getting LVE healthy.

LVE his rookie year looked well on his way to being the best linebacker in football. It was like playing with an extra man on the field.. Even Barkley couldn’t beat him in space.

Getting LVE right would be huge for our team.

Lamb is the bigger body / Body control/ great hands / after catch guy.
In this Universe that is a description of athleticism.....:lmao2:

Watching Dak Haters extended their off-planet interpretations to a 1st RD Draft pick is embarrassing.

Dak Hater's hate Dak but think a lesser talented WR in draft would be better for Dak.....this logic is ridiculous:huh:

Infection is spreading...

It’s only fair that you give us the player that you would have taken to make this impact ???
I’d start with for example the CB taken in front of our pick or two spots after. And two of the top picks remaining are both DB.

This is a deep WR draft. Surely after addressing a more dire need since we lost our best CB and starting Safety we could have looked to finding a third or slot receiver in middle rounds since our starting receivers are set.

Maybe Lamb can play defense too?

4.5 40

34 inch vert

Not that great in terms of testing compared to other athletes.

My comparison for him though is Deandre Hopkins and Hopkins ran a 4.56 40 with a 36 inch vert. Also not that impressive.
I'm pretty sure I would draft DeAndre Hopkins at 17, lol.

I do get the point, I just don't think it matters a whole lot for Lamb.

Valid points, but it's hard to leave this guy out there if you have a shot to pick him....also keeping him from the Eagles doesn't hurt either, I'll rather have him here and take my chances vs having to defend him twice a year for years to come.

Well.. If you read my post I’m clearly not upset and even said it was the right move.

If we can’t cause havoc and disruption on LOS our secondary will be toast. It’s already suspect now after losing two starters.

Some fans are silly. This kid is a stud and the best WR in the draft. If you noticed, nearly everyone was aware that the draft was going to be deep with WRs. Most teams, unless they REALLY need a WR there is value throughout. Lamb is just as good inside as he is outside, he's an incredible athlete and has great hands. The good corners were gone. This was a steal. The idea so many are this negative is ridiculous.
Don't take my word for it, watch his games catching balls from 3 different Heisman winners the last 3 years. You think maybe he helped with that?
