It's funny because back then it was considered the cheapy, while the neck through was the big thing that everyone wanted. How much are those things fetching or are they still in production? BC Rich took an odd turn in the 90's and started making some pretty cheap looking guitars.

It is not the ideal one that most Bich collectors would like although the Kahler on it is a good thing. Most like the full electronic package on them.
As far as making an odd turn...they went through some different ownerships and the quality dropped off a good deal. Along with the imports no longer being made in Nagoya Japan (the NJ) although they kept the NJ tag.
Also if you could send me a PM with the serial number I would appreciate it. The buddy I am going to ask about it keeps a Serial Number log of BC Rich guitars.

I bought my first when I was 16, at a music store, used for $100. It was a Hondo flying V. Heavier than a lead balloon, never stayed in tune and would electricute me every once in a while . One day I was looking through another music store when I saw a used all-wood-grain-colored Strat on sale for $150. I had to have it. I could picture how I would convert it to an Eddie Van Halen replica and couldn't get it out of my mind. I went back the next day with my flying V and asked if they'd take it as a trade in on the Strat. They said my guitar and $20 will do it. So I saved $30 and got the guitar I always wanted. Now it's a '74 Japanese Squire Strat....a very cheap version of the iconic guitar, but a Strat none the less. I've got a D'Marzio Humbucker in the bridge and 2 singles and sounds raunchy and rough...perfect for oldschool classic rock.

All black ones are freaking sexy! Needs an ebony fretboard to match.
