A few things from last night

No big revelations but here goes:

This was a sloppy game as expected (for me anyway). Pretty much a preseason game. In the end, we didn't avoid the injuries to some of the key players.

Romo was Romo. Made big plays with the game on the line and his receivers seemingly working against him. Offensive line looked great. Defense almost let us down again at the end but we were bailed out.

A lot of guys will be coming back midseason. Hope everyone else can stay healthy and we'll see our team at full strength.

Chris Collinsworth/Al Michaels-Are these guys dumb, oblivious, or just drunk? I'm not even going to call bias. They don't even seem to know the rules. Too many moments in the game that I was shaking my head listening to these guys. My favorite quote of the night, when DRC was injured, Al Michaels said, "he's one of the guys they can most afford least to lose" or something like that. My head was spinning trying to comprehend that one. Holy cow.

When Al Michaels said that, my buddy and I just laughed out loud. What a dolt.

Outside of the Beasley fumble, the Witten tipped pass and the Street drop/fumble, what was sloppy?

Where are these dime a dozen guys at now? A rb is a dime a dozen :lmao:

Man the cowboys better hope DMAC can stay healthy a carry the load. Obviously we see Randle is nothing more than a change of pace back, hr should not be starting. Dunbar is fine as a scatback.

Fumbling and dropping passes is sloppy. That's what bad teams do. Add on an idiotic penalty from Mincey, sloppy tackling toward the end of the game, Dez dropping a wide open pass that could have lead to a TD, and gifting the Giants points without their offense having to step on the field, that's sloppy. If we don't have those problems, we beat that team soundly.

Simms and Collinsworth are vying to be the dumbest CCs in the post Madden football broadcasting era, and it's been neck and neck for some time.

I missed Brad Sham on the radio broadcast. Verne Lundquist wasn`t easy to follow at all. I`m no play-by-play expert, but I did it for 26 seasons, and rule one is to be detailed in your presentation. He was not. It was good to hear a Cowboys voice from the days of my youth, but it will be good to have Brad back.

DRC is their best cover CB. He's better than Prince and 5X better than their 3rd CB. If DRC went out, they would've been able to get Dez free down the field much easier.

I agree. I didn't think it was sloppy. I thought we turned the ball over too much. But even the TOs were legit plays you'd see in a mid-season game.

Dunbar should have gone out of bounds at one point. Maybe Beasley should have, too, on his turnover. But overall, not a lot of mental errors. Gap control in the running game was good until that last Giants drive. No blown coverages that I can recall on defense. Just the turnovers.

Randle wasn't great, but he was far from "easy to bring down." There is really no arguing that. He regularly fought off more than one guy with a second effort and got extra yards. He was twisting and turning out of defenders grasps all night. DMac came in and showed a little more pop, but just as advertised the guy has no patience and can't decipher where holes will open. The Giants were loading the box and, although our offensive line looked good, the TE's got whipped regularly on the edges and the backside pursuit by the Giants was strong and disciplined, not allowing much in the way of cut backs. Randle had a better YPC than DMac, the longest run of the night and was above average in blitz pickup. He also had a couple terrific receptions for first downs in the game.

The jury is still our on Michael, obviously, but nothing in last nights game changed Randle's status as the lead runner, ahead of DMac. Anyone saying otherwise is clearly pushing an agenda which nothing on the field backs up.
