A. Glenn covering WR Roy Williams?

Its because Newman isn't good enough to cover Roy Williams. Parcells didn't want to expose Newman :lmao2:

Look what the dogs dragged in.........:D

I'm sure the defense wasn't the reason why the chagers were able to run the ball when they wanted. Or when LT wasn't having the game of the week, and they were winning (Seattle game anyone?)

You're right it was all their defense.

never said it was. I just found it silly that IR made it seem like SD's defense doesn't have any responsibilities, and just runs around does what they want.

Which makes their sack total even more impressive.

Not really, they had the 5th highest number of passes attempted against them. So although they were above average in terms of sacks, they also were well above average in pass attempts faced.

Well Above average in pass attempts against, but only "average" in sacks?

huh? I said above average in both cases.

that's right! Glenn has faired well against the tall guys. That day against Detroit, nothing went right for the defense.

That's my point. They were better then "Above average" in sacks. After all, they did lead the league in that category. If being #1 in that category is only "above average" then that says a lot (in a bad bad way) about our D the WHOLE time Zimmer was here.

I'm sorry that you don't understand what Above Average means. Here's a primer -- above average means above the league's average. I'll tone it down for the below 100 IQ crowd in the future. Thanks for the heads up. You will forever serve as my canary.

2006 34 Sacks Passing Defense 24th 219.0 YPG
2005 37 Sacks Passing Defense 11th 192.7 YPG
2004 33 Sacks Passing Defense 21st 220.1 YPG
2003 32 Sacks Passing Defense 1st 164.4 YPG
2002 24 Sacks Passing Defense 19th 215.6 YPG

As you can clearly see, sacks do not make a Pass Defense great.

Our 2003 team was ranked 1st, but only had 32 sacks.

The Cowboys needed to draft a quality, blue chip corner.
Don't you see that the one year compared to those others listed is an anomaly? Everytime I read one of your posts I get a headache. We didnt draft a corner who you considered blue chip, get over it.

Nice post. Good to see you resort to being a complete arse when you get called out.

Real great attitude you got there.

Anyone with half a brain (that would be more then what you have) knows that when someone says "above average" then aren't referring to anything and everything just above average. When people use "Above average" they mean "not great, but better then average".

Hell, you even felt the need to use "well above average" when referring to the amount of pass attempts against SD's defense last year. If "above average" is "above average" then why use "Well above average" when describing only one of the categories?

Now reply to me respectfully and I'll do the same. Reply to me with the same type of garbage you did above and you'll be the next to join my ignore list. Is that ok with you?

Same players from last year...same results this year.

Look man..the truth hurts.

You think I like seeing our secondary play bad? Henry and A Glenn are targets right now.

Everyone knew our secondary needed draft help. When your pass defense is 24th in the league, something is broke.

So, your solution is to 'improve' the cornerback position and disregard upgrading the pass rush element of the defense. It doesn't work that way, imo.

How exactly was I "called out?"

Your post stated initially that SD's sack numbers were more impressive because they led the league in offensive time of possession. Anyone with half a brain would understand that your post suggested that SD has more sacks with fewer opportunities. I presented information that CLEARLY showed that you were wrong.

So how do you react? With some semantic BS. Above avereage vs. well above average? I wasn't saying anything about how far above average or which was more deviant from the average. That wasn't even relevant to the discussion. You act as if I was trying to say SD sucked on D.

Of course, since you were wrong you immediately began some sort of search for something to latch onto to move the discussion in some other direction.

So, in other words, you would rather have the offseason the Commanders had......

I believe we should have drafted a corner early.

I think C Brown could make the team, but who knows if he can be an elite corner.

Who knows if Revis, Hall, Houston, Wright, or whatever CB you liked will ever be an elite CB either.

The problem was our pass rush exposed our secondary for far too long.

Even if we drafted a Deion Sanders, unless the pass rush got fixed, we'd still have problems back in the secondary. Maybe we targeted Ross, Revis, and Hall, but after they were gone, we didn't feel if there was value there to add a CB.

Not everything gets fixed in one offseason, unless you are an elite team with little to no holes.

We weren't that. We were 9-7. And for a reason. We addressed a big part of that (pass rush) via the draft. We added help via the OL in the draft in Free and Marten, and added a starter at RG (another problem-plagued area). And to solidify our FS spot, we added a veteran FS who has proven to be quite good in the secondary.
