A good coach makes much better use of the talent on this roster

I think when you look at the offseason objectively, it is hard to fault MM for the lost of talent that occurred. Everyone gets fooled by the hype. "Sam Williams is the next Micah Parsons!" How did Sam do last night? He looked lost and over matched. Do you think they missed Randy Gregory? The truth is they missed all the players they lost last night, except maybe Connor Williams and that is debatable too.

So many times I have heard about how great this guy or that guy looked in preseason then the regular season rolls around the they guy looks like he should have been cut. Stop falling for the hype and look at the players with both eyes open. This team got worse in the offseason and it was not Mike McCarthy's fault. This team has been through how many HCs in the last 26 years? It is always the coach's fault because the players are all all-pros, right?

Forget the stats, look at the game. The Bucs didn't punt until the 3rd quarter last night. They ran for 154 yards. Brady had an off night. The defense got pushed around by a team that reportedly had OL problems like the Cowboys, and they lost their starting LT midway through the game.

I have said it over and over, the Cowboys keep trying to win with the same players they didn't win with the prior year. In 2016, the Cowboys had an awesome offensive line. Since then, the line has deteriorated year over year until we are where we are now. Last year they had a very good WRs group. Now look where they are.

It is not the HCs, it is the guy who puts the players on the roster.

Now, THIS is the post!!! When considering what the Front Office did to this team in the offseason, anyone who expected anything other than what happened last night, was clearly looking through rose colored glasses. No, I didn't expect Dak to get hurt, but I fully expected the Cowboys to lose in royal fashion. And, I expected the offense to struggle.

you may be right. but 19 points and some important stops during the game gave this team a chance to win . 19 points is not bad. but i agree it is not great defense.
At 19 points we should have won the game. I applaud DQ on keeping us in a manageable win situation. But run defense is the exact same as in how many years past? We get burned by good running teams season after season. San Fran ran all of us in our one and done PO last season mainly because we could not contain the run. That's all DQ needed to do. Shore up the run defense.

The play calling on offense was terrible.
Kellen Moore is the worst OC in the league. So unimaginative and predictable. He pulled out the double reverse that lost 7 yards early on just to show how "creative he is". His run scheme sucks, the route designs suck. Everything is bad

agree. the run defense was gashed often . not sure DQ will have any leverage or claim to have solved Dallas's defense after last year's playoff loss and then the fun defense issues. I am also cognizant that tampa was not trying hard to score in the 4th quarter as if they were aggressive the score could have been 27-3 easily.
At this stage, the only things jerry can sell the fans ( other than removing himself from the GM position) is to hire an accomplished independent minded coach which could be Sean Payton or another super star coach out there maybe Pete Carrol ? or a hot college coach .

This team is micromanaged by the owner. It’s a much bigger problem than the HC and it isn’t going away!
I wish I could like this over a thousand times, people still don't understand this concept. Year after year we fire a coach change players after players and the same thing happens again and again

very true. it is the Jerry scheme that is the real issue. coaching , personnel. he is swimming in the pool he built and we are watching.

Jerry knows by now that the fans won't tolerate another bad season or accept just another replacement coach. The issue is Sean Payton will need more control and jerry's ego won't let him admit he needs sean payton . something has got to give.

Well, it won't be Jerry giving in, so......

Whatever the circumstances, players lost, injuries etc . There is no excuse for the way this team looked . 3 measly points at home?? That is inexcusable.
The defense has done its part. 19 points , an interception, sacks of Brady . So Quinn is not the issue .

You have a decent talent across the board . For Dak and Cee Dee to connect on just 26 yards is inexcusable.
The combination of talent on the passing and the running game should be able to produce much more .
McCarthy being an offensive coach makes this more puzzling . Unless he has been told by Jerry to leave Kellen alone or MM simply let Kellen do what he wants . In this case MM is just the head trainer and not the head coach .
Either way , if MM is that weak , he should not be the head coach and the players won’t respect him. It showed last night .

Bro, don't get me started on the talent.

Shoutout to those few weeks where Quinton Bananna was an impact player.

Those pesky games.

"You have a decent talent across the board." That's where your post went wrong. The offensive talent is incredibly substandard.

It’s embarrassing that people in here can’t understand that both can be true

the current coaching staff sucks and the offensive personnel sucks too

the OP is 100% spot on. A better staff absolutely gets more from their group. Does that mean the personnel is fine and doesn’t need more talent. No. There is definitely a deficiency in talent as well.

It’s a tragedy we have Zeke and Pollard and they aren’t involved at all! Moore HAS TO GO! Zeke actually had his burst back and ave over 5 a carry! It’s criminal we have these 2 backs and they aren’t getting the ball 30 times a game! It protects Dak, it protects ur D, and it takes the will from the opposing team! I just don’t get it! It’s not like the game wasn’t within reach to give up on the running game! History shows when Zeke touches the ball Dallas wins! We went from Zekes rookie year when we led the league in rushing attempts to this! Moore is one of these pass happy coordinators but the problem is r personnel is built to run the ball first to set up the pass. And we drafted the team to do that! Zeke, Martin, Smith, ect.

I agree Moore isn’t very good, but I don’t blame him for the gimmic plays. The guy is smart enough (unlike Jerry & Stephan) to know this offense is just not good, and backup WR’s would not get it done. I think he ran those goofy plays since he know Dak with these WR were not going to score, and It really is our only hope.

The big fault I see is him not accepting the reality and just going full running, just pound the ball, feed Zeke until he breaks, and hope that opens up some throws. I do think Jerry adds input to the team on plays and wouldn’t allow Moore to just run it with his $40mil QB and star #1 WR not getting plays to prove how smart Jerry is.

Now, we are really toast, with the backup QB, so those run lanes will be shut down. It will just get worse from here.

It's time to say the talent level on this team is nowhere near as good as even people outside the organization thought. Outside of Zack Martin, Micah Parsons, and Trevon Diggs, who is a superstar?

What talent? OL talent? WR talent? How about OC talent? Those are the 3 spots we knew were all bad prior to last night, but we foolishly hoped it would work out.

The Jones boys never learn from their mistakes.
