A good indicator of whether the Cowboys are a playoff team

If I hadn't seen it w/ my own eyes....I wouldn't have believed it. but that Seahawks loss last year...told me everything I need to know about this organization. Having everything to play for....this team came out like it was a pre-season game. So lackadaisical...coaches missing in warm ups....players half *** stretching. No organization what so ever...IMO the players had checked out of this staff...and was hoping to get people fired. Yeah...there may have been some churning of this staff...but still the same clowns are running this circus.

So I don't see how any of this changes....It's only gonna get worse. Brutal schedule + incompetency = No playoffs. No playoffs= Gotta find a scapegoat. I don't see how Red survives....
If this owner thinks it’s ok to keep the same GM after the record he has the last 22 years, why would it be crazy to keep the figurehead HC despite losing? You are touching on the biggest problem facing this organization for two decades: There’s no accountability for failure at the top of the organization.

Ooooohhh, can't agree w/ you there. Jax shut NE down, refs bailed them out more than once. You know that I'm not a conspiracy nut, Bob. Check out the Jags D penalties during the year, and then compare them to that game. That was disgusting.

I was getting ready to buy a Ramsey jersey, but yes your 100% right multiple calls that bailed out the Patriots in this game.

This is a very young team.

It needs a great leader at the top to lead them to victory.

Thank goodness we have that.

There's the reason we won't be a *winning* playoff team.

If he hasn’t learned from that we’re already screwed, lol.

We are screwed.

We lost to GB in the same way again in 2017, giving the ball back to Rodgers with too much time left on the clock.

That boy ain't never gonna learn. Even after the second time, he was still defending the move. He has always thrown the game back on the defense in the final minutes, even while we've been committing more resources to the offense and have more talent on offense.

Is it possible to instill mental toughness when you're giving players a vet day off the 2nd day of training camp?

Garrett showed what he's all about in 2016 when his safe space mentality got his own team eliminated in the playoffs.
But he learned his lesson. He played them all in last years final with Philly. lol

Mental toughness. The ability to overcome the adversity that WILL HAPPEN every season is what separates the contenders from the pretenders. Overcoming injuries, bad calls and sometimes even bad luck are all part of what makes a team successful in the playoffs. You can have talent at every position but if you collectively as a team can’t be tough mentally, it won’t matter.

Mental toughness is what most champions exhibit in droves. Hate to say it, but last year, that beagles team showed some grit losing all those key starters including their star QB, LT, star defender and several others, and still overcoming all that to beat the defending champs in the SB. Filly is talented sure, but I refuse to believe that they’re infinitely more talented than Dallas. What separates us from them last year was mental toughness and better coaching.

If this talented young Cowboys team can fight through whatever adversity lies ahead, they can be a team to be reckoned with. I like the talent we have. I’m not thrilled with he coaching but that too can be overcome.

The mental toughness checklist- Stick together. Accept no excuses. Hold each other accountable. Fight through every injury. Believe in your teammates. Fight to the end.

If our 2018 Cowboys are going to be what we all want them to be, let’s all hope they are tough as boot leather between the ears. Because it takes a lot more than talent to win a championship.
Bob,
The difference between the Cowboys and Eagles is bigger than you think. This year the Cowboys defense will close the gap with this group of LBs but the Eagles have Fletcher Cox who is not only good but is a big defensive leader in the locker room.
Wentz is the difference on offense and he will only get better.

We really couldn't block. 4 sacks on Dak. Would have been more if he weren't such a good running QB.

Dak had the one horrible INT to Zeke, but that one INT to Dez was on Dez, and then there was Dez's fumble.

3 turnovers to none. That's how we lost. The Seahawks didn't do anything on offense. We doubled their total yardage. But Dak gave them a defensive TD. That put the game out of reach.

I would trade coaching staffs with the Eagles in a heartbeat because that's where the problem lies. Not with mental toughness but creativity, execution and in game adjustments. Garrett lost me at halftime of the Seahawks game when he said they were going to stick with their gameplan of wearing the Seahawks defense out. Are ya kidding me? With all of the timeouts and stoppages during an NFL game, that's your strategy? We all know that didn't happen in the second half.

Sorry— that is an absurd stretch.

The 2016 team was young, and they came out tight— and Rodgers owns Marinelli in his career. By the way— that young team and QB bounced back and it took a miracle throw and 2 +50 yard FGs for Rodgers to pull the rabbit out of his hat.

You can’t lay the playoff loss in 2016 all on Garrett’s “space mentality” lol... but in typical Zone fashion, Garrett gets 100% of the blame and 0% credit.

Last year, IMO, the Jaguars were more talented than the patriots in the AFC championship game and they led for 3 plus qtrs. What happened is they were not mentally strong enough to handle the pats mojo. Talent alone is not enough.

Actually I don't think it was the players as much as the coaches. Something changed late in the game. Seems like the Jaguars changed in their gameplay. Went too conservative maybe. Or did not know how to handle being on the verge of going to a SB. Who knows, but I blame some of it on the coaches.

I'm far from a Garrett apologist, but this is a dumb take. Just how did he get us eliminated from the playoffs in 2016? We got eliminated by a great pass and a lucky catch at the end of the game. I didn't like some of the play calling throughout the game, but what in the hell does that have to do with a "safe space" mentality? If you're talking about sitting some of the starters in the last game, EVERY team in the NFL does that when nothing is on the line in Week 17.

If we can win or even play for a championship without an elite defense or QB then props goes out to someone . Prob our coaching staff for overcoming the weaknesses in talent.

I suppose some mental toughness awards could go out as well. I might credit Jerry for keeping our “toes to the line”. Lol

Jags got some bad calls no doubt. Where I thought they lost their edge was thinking too much about who they were playing. They looked tight in the 4th.
I didn't see that at all. I saw a team beat another team hands down, and get screwed badly. Penalties beat JAX.

They kept getting penalties called on them to keep NE w/i striking distance. Go rewatch the game w/ that in mind, and you'll cry at how blatant it was.
