Not so fast.....I can see Howie packaging that 2028 1st with a 2027 to go get a player he wants. Also, there's some rumbling they may move on from Hurts after this season w/o a deep playoff run.

Every team has to look to the future. No team can afford every player they’d like to have. What players a team does not retain is every bit as important as players they acquire. Some teams are better at it than others. Perhaps you believe the Eagles are very bad at building their roster. Fine. Opinions vary.

They have players on their roster, like every other NFL team, they would like to sign to extensions. Some they’ll be able to. Some will go to other teams. Moving off $133 million future cap expense very likely means a player they want to keep they’ll be more able to keep. They have some very good players on rookie contracts. Carter, Mitchell, DeJean. These guys are going to want big money. I’ll bet one of the three will end up elsewhere. That’s how this business goes.

Irony is the Cowboys helped the Eagles ease the pain of moving Brown by facilitating their moving up and drafting a wide receiver in the first round before another team could. I don’t believe Lemon will be anywhere near as good as A J Brown. Or if he’ll be any good at all. Last time the Cowboys did that for the Eagles they drafted DeVonta Smith. It’s nice to have friends in your own division willing to help you out.

Until I see Pickens be willing to make his career going over the middle I'm taking Ceedee. I think that's very underrated about Ceedee's game.

I’ve kept up with the whole debacle in Philly. He doesn’t seem to be the problem it seems to be the qb.

If he turns out to be the move they needed to make to reach the Super Bowl, I reserve the right to change my mind. But IMO Howie got more than he should have for a player who was divisive and didn't put up elite numbers last year. I'm sure New England agreed to it because the Patriots feel they are on the cusp of reaching a Super Bowl (kind of like the Rams giving up Verse for Garrett).

Roseman has a way of fleecing teams, though. I mean, he got first-round picks for both Sam Bradford and Carson Wentz when it was clear that neither of them had shown they were worth it.

They made it without him. And no elite #1. Them making it again isn't moving the needle.

But it's what you have to go on. We got Javonte Williams cheap coming from Denver because he had averaged less than 4 yards per carry for the previous two years. We took a chance that he was still better than that but it was a low-cost move. You don't pay players for what they accomplished two years ago. You pay them for what they are now, and the way you judge that is by what they do.

I'm glad that Brown is no longer with the Eagles. They are replacing him with a first-round receiver but that doesn't mean that receiver is going to be any good or that he'll hit the ground running his rookie year. But the Eagles got a first-round pick plus for a receiver who for whatever reasons was just 19th-best in the league last year. That's good value for the Eagles right now. Maybe Brown will show that he's much better than the 19th-best receiver and the Eagles will lose the deal, especially if their first-rounder becomes an All-Pro, but right now, it looks to me that Roseman took advantage of another team like he did with the Bradford and Wentz deals. The Patriots are hoping to get much more for what they paid than what Brown showed last year.

Barkley was never going to live up to the numbers he put up the previous year. In fact, most backs have a come-down year after a year like that.

Yes, the Eagles offense was bad, but how much did Brown play a role in that? Dez Bryant had a nine-year NFL career, but injuries started robbing him of some of the things he did best in his sixth year. He put up his best YPC in his eighth year, but he wasn't the same player and didn't get back to 1,000 yards per season his last three years in Dallas. I'm not saying that Brown is in the same boat as Bryant, but he missed time in 2024 with a hamstring injury and he missed time in 2025 with a hamstring injury. Wear and tear gets to all players if they play long enough.

Again, that doesn't mean that Brown is at that point, but I would have been wary about trading a first-round pick for him at this point.

Jerry Jones’ lack of managerial courage prevents it. And the contract Seattle gave to JSN doesn’t help.

I’m gonna come across as a Howie hater but I haven’t been impressed with Howie in 2 years.
