I just don't get that speculation. Two 2nd round picks on QBs in the last 2 years. Doubt they are giving up on the one they took in 2007 yet. Signed McCown who is probably a better QB than Simms at this point (and they gave him 2.5 mill as a bonus so he's likely not getting cut)

If I were Simms I'd try the Bears or Vikings. I think he could possibly start either place.

I'd love to have him as our 3rd QB and eventually Johnson's replacement, but don't see it.

Beck, Henne and some money just given to McCown. Miami's not taking Simms.

That's said, I wouldn't mind him here. Maybe even to replace Johnson as a #2 right off the bat.

I doubt he'd want to go anywhere that has an established #1 QB.

I cannot think of a place that would let him start except in Chicago.

I think Minny and Chicago could both give him the protection he needs.

He can throw the football.

Yeah I didn't get the Miami thing either other than his father playing for Tuna. I was just passing along what he said.

I just cant see why a team like Chicago or Minny wouldnt be all over Leftwich.

Minnesota would be a great fit imo. Great o-line, great running game. They may lack recievers, but they have everything else.

At minimum, any 3rd string Cowboy QB should come with a spleen

If he's here it is to push for the #2. We need a true developmental guy at #3

there was a story recently in SI (online) that both Leftwich and Culpepper were being shunned by prospective employers because both QBs had um, intellectual . . . brain-processing . . . the story implied and I inferred that they were kinda dumb and had trouble grasping the systems.

I dont know about all that but Leftwich can pass the football.

Culpepper was overrated all along.

Wow. Seems like NFL execs are back in the 60s again.

Lefty's problem is that he's fat, slow, and not healthy. Culpepper's problem is that he's fat, slow, and not healthy.

I could see Miami going after Simms.

Parcells has no experience with Beck, hence drafting Henne in the 2nd.

Henne hasn't proven anything at this point, although he may be tearing it up at their OTAs.

McCown is a journeyman QB at best with a resume consisting of Az, Detroit and Oakland in his short career. You'd think he would stick with someone as at least a backup if he was any good.

Parcells does have history with Simms, albeit Simms Sr. but we've seen Parcell's tendency to gravitate towards 'Parcells Guys' so it wouldn't be such a stretch.

If Parcells were coaching, I'd say it's a done deal. He may shy away as a GM only.

When Culpepper was in Minnesota, Jaws did some pretty good analysis to show that he wasn't throwing the ball where it was supposed to go.

Don't know why this has anything to do with the 60's, especially when three of the teams these guys played for are now QB'ed by black QB's. Maybe it's just you.

Leftwich is god awful....

I wouldn't take him as a 3rd QB. We'd be better off with some undrafted rookie and try to develop him than wasting a spot on Leftwich.

People complained about Bledsoe.... I can't imagine the board meltdown if Leftwich were to play.

His father playing for BP is actually another strike against him going there as well. When BP spoke of Chris Simms, it was in a 'Uncle Bill' kind of way. Parcell's has known him well since he was a little kid. Simms and BP were closer than nearly all of his players, so there were plenty of times with that kid underfoot.

IMO, It'd have been like coaching family, and I always got the vibe BP wasn't comfortable in Simms' case. At his age, screaming obscenities to a guy who you used to pat on the head when they were 5 seemed like something he'd want to avoid. (especially if he wasn't confident in Simms' success).

Just a read I got the last time Simms was rumored to be available a few years back. (From both BP and Phil Simms)
