You're right. I'm biased against players soaking up millions off the cap playing mediocre football. Congratulations you have cleverly ferreted out my agenda.

Neither player is playing very well. THAT's the point. Certainly no where near what we are paying them.

This isn't personnal or illogical. Flozell and LA take up almost $9M in cap space this year just between those two players. Even when Flo was in earlier in the year, did you think the left side of the offensive line was worth 10% of our total cap money? Especially when those two guys inconsistent play contributed directly to losses this season?

Enough is enough. Flozell has sleepwalked through games his entire career except for one season. Larry's not getting it done anymore. I'm thinking it may be time to move on and see if there are more productive ways to spend that much money. More importantly, we should stop trying to stick expensive patches like Rivera on the sinking ship that is our offensive line and build a newer, better boat.
We all have opinions, to think that Flozell has sleepwalked through games his entire carer is just illogical you do not go to the probowl by sleepwalking as a starter or alternate name five LT in the NFC that are better I can only think of 3 and that is Pace, Thomas and Jones and they might be the best in all of the NFL that IMO is the only reason Flo has not went to more Pro Bowls. Is he perfect no does he make Bonehead penaties yes but unless he can be replaced with any of the above metioned LT I'l take him.

And Kansas City is my counter exhibit B.

We've had a top5 offense for the past 3 years, and are working out way back up the rankings this year. Why are we not top5 as usual? Because our O-Line, specifically our stud Pro-Bowl LT Willie Roaf has missed 5 games with a bad hammy, and a revolving door at RT until just recently.

This KC offense functions as a direct result of a superior O-Line, and definitely NOT the other way around.
I have to agree with you there.i

This is called a period ----> .

Learn it. Love it. Use it. ;)

And as you said, everyone has opinions. I already said he had one good season when he went to the Pro Bowl. He got in last year only because of reputation and injury.

And those boneheaded penalties cost us games.

This is a very deep draft for OLine. IMO maybe its time to get someone who doesn't make boneheaded penalties or miss so many assignments.

Something i have noticed when people start losing an argument they always go to the punctuation or spelling card. Yes I could have used a period in there but I think you understood my point. Did I use enough Periods for you. You cannot say 1 penalty in an entire game loses the game does it make ut harder on the team yes but it does not lose the game.

Our problem:

Johnson, Gurode, Peterman, Rogers, Lehr, Page, etc..........

You can't keep missing every time you draft an OL, especially when 3 of the most recent picks were 2nd rounders and 1 of them a 3rd rounder.

Good point

Our defensive front seven is on the right track because we brought in the right people...primarily through the draft (Spears, Canty and Ware)...but also through Free Agency (Furguson).

We, thus far, have not had the same success through FA and draft on the Offensive line.

But..in all fairness..the FA bust thus far could be due to the back injury that Rivera suffered right after he was signed.

Not at anywhere NEAR what we are paying him.

Sorry, but you're way wrong. LTs get paid a lot of $$$. Period. And when you find one that can protect his QBs blindside they get paid even more.

Adams is an excellent pass blocker. When he gets beat I actually think to myself "Wow, Flo got beat".

Now, he's not a great run blocker, but I'd take a Flo over a mauling run blocker that can't protect his QB.

If Flo were cut today he'd get paid more then he is now.

I think Flo has a very reasonable contract all things considered now Allens contract is debatable but you know Jerry can be loyal to a Fault.

The secret is just to release Drew. It worked for New England (3 Super Bowls wins). And it worked for Buffalo (4 regular season wins).

Absolutely. Flo Adams, for all his shortcomings, is a pretty darn good LT. His contract is reasonable considering the caliber of player he is. The going rate for left tackles, even decent ones, is high.

What's the name of BP's friend and long-time line coach in Tampa? Muir? Isn't his contract up after this year, or am I remembering stuff that never happened again?

He was available this past offseason, but he resigned with the Bucs (as their Offensive Coordinator I think).

Agreed. Flozell is a bargain, especially for the caliber of player that he is. I can't believe people have suggested that we move him to another position in favor of an uncertain LT that we draft.

1. Houck was an OK coach. He isn't some great coach who we miss. He's had good season and bad. He's nothing special. Some of yous swalllow too much of the mediocre DMN reporting. According to them every coach we lost is the greatest in the history of the league.

2. What I see from those lines are a bunch of guys who were cast offs, low picks, and generally guys who took a few years to get it together. Al Johnson, Rob Petitti, Stephan Peterman -- give them some time to develop.
