I look at the list of draft prospects and how they are ranked by the experts and I know this:
1. About two weeks before the draft, quarterbacks begin rising and the ascent is steep.
2. There is a very high interest in the RBs this season as teams are reminded of what a good running game can do.
By the time we reach the draft I believe there will be three quarterbacks drafted in the top 11. I also believe there will be two RBs taken as well. This means that there would be only six other players at a different positions taken before the Cowboys are on the clock.
Of the six, I believe that the obvious players taken will be Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, Mason Graham and Will Campbell.
I strongly believe that the Cowboys can trade down at least six slots and still get a great player that can contribute next season.
If that 3rd QB should still be there at pick #12, then the Cowboys would benefit greatly from a trade because they could demand extra value. They could possibly pick up an extra 2nd and 3rd round pick.
The only exception to trading down, in my opinion, would be if one of the "top 5" players was still there. It is highly unlikely but the Cowboys can't turn down a guy like Abdul Carter or Mason Graham.
