Team 1 should have scored 14 points, a holding penalty negated it.
Team 2 did score 14 points and is considered the best Offense in the NFL with the best Offensive mind in the NFL.
Both teams played teams whose defenses are their strengths.
What is the main difference here? There are two. Emotional attachment and too many penalties from our team.
On the penalty front Rex Ryan, a great disciplinary type coach we have been told, his team committed 14 penalties for 125 yards last night.
Morale of this story...don't jump off the ledge after week 1. Hell don't even climb out on the ledge yet.
I have said it a couple times before in the past couple days but it bears saying again. What did we learn from Sunday night:
This team is extremely talented but is still going to make crucial dumb mistakes. I am going to enjoy the heck out of this season, we have a lot, A LOT, of players that are going to be all time greats, we are going to beat some very good teams and we are going to play some very good football; however, we will not make it to the super bowl because at some point these dumb errors will cost us a critical game, whether that be in the first round of the playoffs or the NFCC I do not know, but it will happen. It sucks and it will especially suck when that game occurs because if we could just get rid of the stupid mindless mistakes we would win it all (most likely) but we won't (or likely won't).
So Hos, you are right, there is absolutely no reason to go jumping now. This team is ubber talented, and we are going to have a great season. I think the response of the "jumpers" here is from the realization that this team is not exactly what they thought it was (and this was me last year until I figured it out). What these "jumpers" need to do is realize this team is a very good team (The mid 00s eagles, the mid 00s mavs, the Dandy Don Cowboys, the "Next Year's Team" Cowboys) but like all those teams, a team that is missing just one or two critical pieces to get it up over the top.
So jumpers, don't jump, enjoy this season, it is rare we see a team this talented, but, realize what this team is, I think only then can you really enjoy this team and this season.
