Division title and play-off win, something not done for the Cowboys in how many years? If he was the biggest joke, what does that make JG for not even sniffing the play-offs? Imagine what Wade could have done if this incompetent OC wasn't coaching an ever-declining offense that couldn't effectively run the ball to control the clock? yep, times haven't changed

All with Parcells team. Just like Switzer.

Check out the '07-'09 drafts after Bill left, not to mention the pathetic leadership of Wade.

Yep, Parcells drafted us so many good olinemen....

Parcells himself said that he thought his schtick would only last for about three years....

Really.. Because JG seemed to be in control on offense then, meaning he was getting the players he wanted, like Felix Jones, when Wade wanted Chris Johnson. You know it also hilarious for the Garrett lovers and the hypocrisy around justifying his incompetence by blaming Wade. Jerry Jones traded 3 picks, including a number 1 in the 2009 draft, the worst one ever per Garrett apologists for Roy Williams to help out JGs offense, not Wade's. So it's JGs fault that 2009 draft sucked. In fact, Wade made it clear during his tenure here that he wouldn't use a first rounder on a WR. All those OL we wasted picks on must have been Wade and not Garrett, when Garrett got Houck as he wanted, not Solari.

I guess Sean Lee, the captain of the defense to replace the aging Bradie James that Parcells left, was a JG pick.. wait a minute, no it wasn't. Or the MVP of the defense last year, Spencer... Wait, it wasn't...

As long as the players know who is calling the plays why does not matter if you know? You plan on playing this season? :laugh2:
I actually agree with you for once. And plus, IMO, Garrett is on the hot seat this year, and if that's the case, he needs to run things his way. I'm not going out because someone else screwed up with the plays. If I go down, I'm going down doing it my way.

I don't have any issue with Callahan calling play. The game plan is something both Garrett and Callahan put together throughout the week and now Romo will be more involved in the process. Who calls the play? I really do not care, how the players go out and execute the plays I do care.

As I pointed out Garrett calling the plays or not does not change the fact he is the HC and success or failure will be put on his shoulders.

So you'll divide the responsibility of play-calling? wow...

most teams do, the OC gets to call a few plays in certain situations or in a quarter or two...

I would imagine when we get to the games,it will be Garrett calling the plays.Until then, they don't need to let anyone know, unless they want to.

According to Babe Laugenberg, Jerry wants Callahan to call plays, and Garrett is trying to talk him out of it.

Hopefully he loses the battle. This could be a lose lose situation here. He continues to call plays and the offense is a mess like usual, or he lets Cally call plays and we become the #1 offense in scoring and yards and Cally looks like the mastermind.

We will see.

Either they don't know, or

They know, and they aren't saying because it's so ridiculous that they know it won't go over well.

Don't know which is worse.

Who's calling the plays?

I'm not calling the plays, are you calling the plays? He's not calling the plays, what about that guy, is he calling the plays?

Jerry, who's calling the plays? "Uh, er, uh, certainly, uh, playcalling is important, uh, er, uh......." Good lord.

Jason, are you calling the plays? "We're going through the process of........." Oh, criminy, dude.

Hey, Callahan, are you calling the plays? "Ask Jerry, but did you hear the one about the...." I already did, and maybe later.

Who's calling the dadgum plays? Is it that hard of a question?

Truth is, I think, there's a battle royale going on behind the scenes about playcalling. I think most stuff, drama included, has sorted itself out and fallen into place, but quietly, there's a simmering whizzing match about who gets the camera time on the sideline talking into the back of a playsheet.

I believe Jerry wants Callahan to call the plays. I think most of us do, too. I also believe Garrett adamantly wants to hold on to that role because he wants to sink or swim on his own volition. Can't blame him for that, but I don't think he understands how good of a head coach he could be with a clearer head and more time to use that big Princeton brain on the sidelines.

I see a tremendous quality in Garrett that I'm not sure he values as much as he should.

The thing about smart people - I wish I were one of them people - is that they too often don't have much faith in their common man, or in this case, their fellow coaching brethren. Tom Landry was the worst in terms of trusting his coaches, and he called plays on both sides of the ball.

Garrett exudes more presence, and instills more confidence, by just looking on in calculating contemplation. When he's buried in playcalling, he looks far too much like just the young offensive coordinator, and then he looks fidgety when the defense is on the field. It's too much of a contrast for his personality.

Garrett is a stately man. He's the CEO of some airline, and the Chairman of the Board for some hoity toity multinational joint venture hedge fund investment capital ways and means sub-committee......you get the point.

You can still call plays if you're not the playcaller. In fact, you can make a LOT more decisions in all three facets of the game if you're not the designated offensive playcaller. There's so much more freedom to manage on the fly when you're not the one changing the tires in the pit crew.

This needs to get ironed out now and made public. It's important for Garrett's presence and stature in front of the team. It need not linger any further.
Why is it important to know, if they do know? Really, they don't have to tell anyone, anything!
