When the Fitzgerald trade talk came up last offseason and it appeared Arizona wasnt going to be able to pay him, I said I would give up 1st-2nd this year and Patrick Crayton (because they needed an NFL body to fill in for him). All I heard back was are you freaking insane????? Thats way too much. Crayton is a valuable slot guy we can not afford to lose him and draft picks are way more valuable. I came back and stated my case that Fitzgerald is only 23(at the time) and has been in the league for 3 seasons I beileve. I said what rookie is going to come in here and produce like Fitzgerald. On top of that hes only 23, an age in which most players are rookies. I hear back no-no-no draft picks are too valuable. It really made me mad because I would had taken Fitzgerald over any two players in this upcoming draft and I dont care if its the first and second pick. People in here are in love with the thought of draft picks and theres nothing wrong with that, but when you get a chance at a bonfide best player at his poistion whose only 23 there should be no debate. Its where do I sign. The draft has too many Bobbie Carpetners in it, the chance of screwing up are good. Fitz was a sure thing.

Would anyone like to change their mind here???? I know everyone didnt say this but many did.

Its about probabilities and given what they were at the time it was stiill the right choice. its like you telling me to play the lottery and giving me some numbers. If they come up you can sit there and say i told you so all day long but i still won't take those odds.

We'd been in pretty good shape if we'd had taken Santonio Holmes instead of Bobby Carpenter like I said a couple years ago.

But then again, I would have taken Mike Williams.

So, being the football gurus we think we are, we talk enough we're bound to hit one right now and then.

It's not really a big deal, certainly not enough to start a thread on.

I still think we need a zone for patting yourself on the back.

If Holmes were in Dallas he would already be suspended for a full season.

There was no way Arizona was trading Larry Fitzgerald for a 1st, 2nd and Crayton before this season. It just would not have happened. It would have taken two first round picks at least.

Well done.

Almost everyone in that thread agrees Fitz would be a great addition. Only thing people bring up is the cap hit off his new contract. In fact, I may have missed it, but I didn't see anyone ask "are you freaking insane????????"

Please don't post "I was right" threads. That's all we'd have here if everyone did this.

And there was no way AZ was ever going to let Fitzgerald get away, so it was a waste of time to discuss it, whether you were right or not.

I've been on the Fitz Waggon for about 3 years now so I definetely wouldnt have been against you wanting Fitz.

Hes like a Giant Terry Glenn.

I don't see the comparison. Glenn often jumped in the air for no reason. Fitz jumps in the air in order to catch the ball.

I can see how people don't get my comparison.

I just think if you made Fitzgerald 5'10 200 pounds he would play identical to Terry.

Hes a great route runner, elusive, and has amazing hands.

Very agile in his routes.

Gotta love that hindsight.

Some people would be better served viewing reality as it exists today. If RW11 took a full offseason to really get the Detroit stink off of him, healed up that foot/toe/leg injury (that he never mentioned but is believed to have existed), worked hard and adopted TO's work ethic, while working in some time with Romo to get that timing down we could see a much improved RW11 take the field next year.

Obviously this would involved Romo being available on ann not off to Cabo to bask in his glorious mediocrity. Every player has to personally want to get better and improve upon anything they accomplished in previous years. You get Romo, RW11, TO, and two of our three spectacular RBs all on the same page this offseason and we just may see an improvement next season. Of course, this also would involved Wade holding true to his promise of a tougher stance. So many variables...

I could see him playing like Steve Smith. Glenn never seemed elusive to me especially when he had the ball in his hands. Even imagining Fitz being smaller, I just don't see the comparison.

In fact, go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back for it ;-)
