A Statistical look at Dak! He is really good

I am not saying it was 100 % luck , I know they brought him in once or twice, talked to him and liked him.
But they saw him as a potential project player.
I give dallas credit for that and for drafting him, since other teams overlooked him entirely.
Had dallas not taken him, he might have been a 5th or lower, or even udfa !

Hard to believe every team did such a poor evaluation of Dak.

And your brady point is good, it is similar to dak, so many overlooked brady and the patriots lucked out on him too.
The key though is as soon as bellicheck saw him play as a starter a few games, he knew this was his guy.
There was no bringing back of bledsoe.

Fair enough.

or you could say that all the other teams were wrong in evaluating Dak, pretty bad that 31 other teams didnt think he was worth picking in 2nd or 3rd
round.
he was probably not on many teams board, and down low on the others.

Which makes me wonder how many other mistakes are being made by todays scouts and draft analysis (for all teams) on other players??

Well, they say that QBs are the most difficult players to evaluate accurately, since there are so many determining factors that render them either acceptably effective or not. I'm quite certain that it was a valuable advantage for the Cowboys to have some of their staff available to see firsthand what the QBs involved in that particular Senior Bowl had to offer. There were widely varied evaluations regarding Prescott before the draft. Some had him rated as high as the 2nd or 3rd round, whereas some others had him rated as low as the 5th.

I'm certain that he had some discrepancies that caused many of the scouts to have their doubts, such as his footwork and his accuracy. Those things surely improved markedly once he got the benefit of more coaching and the added experience of training camp. Fortunately, he's supremely coachable and dedicated to maintaining a strong work ethic. I'm just ecstatic that we were fortunate enough to do our homework better than all those others that passed on him during the draft. We're reaping the benefits now that they only wish they had.

I think that about sums it up.
and I am sure all those teams that dont have a good qb, are wondering how they mis-evaluated this Dak guy.

Sometimes you have to sit back and just truly take in how unbelievably lucky we got with this pick. Forget any QB controversy and just realize we now are a contender for the next decade. No need to cycle through a parade of "could bes". We have our guy.

yes sir, I'm absolutely giddy and can't believe how lucky we are to have him.

True.

Wade Wilson spent a lot of time with the kid.

The Cowboys simply drafted him where they thought they could maximize value.

Obviously they didn't know how quickly and well he would acclimate to the NFL... I mean who could? And that goes for just about every pick in every round.

But to call the Cowboys' drafting of Dak Prescott "lucky" is ludicrous.
Such a load of crap. By your logic and the others spouting this nonsense, Dallas KNEW every other team would pass on Dak and he would conveniently fall into their lap at the end of the fourth. You would have to be a complete idiot to believe that. Stephen Jones came out and specifically said had they any inclination whatsoever Dak would be anywhere near this good, that they would have drafted him way before the end of the fourth. He effectively said straight up it was pure luck. Every player is scouted. Every player that is drafted is liked to "some" extent. Spending time with a player you are thinking of drafting is called due diligence. A scout team doesn't get extra credit for that, it should be a core part of their role when it comes to the draft. But when talking quarterbacks with franchise potential, any that are taken after the first round are misses, by EVERY team. Dallas flat out lucked out that no other team picked him before they did and that they needed a backup QB so bad, that they settled for Prescott when their preferred options slipped through their hands. But no, let's ignore what Stephen Jones said, lets pretend Dallas knew exactly how the draft would play out and give them credit for executing their master plan. Ludicrous.

Well,he's also world renowned,,, he made the DRUDGE REPORT! the other day,,,the cat is smoking hot/no ceiling

What people fail to look at was the fact that he had no receivers no weapons around him. Everything he's done was on his own.

Now you put weapons around a guy who had none, and a guy who took his team to #1 with no weapons, you get a star.

Lol
Typical Garrett homies giving him credit for a QB who he did not pick and a player they had ranked lower than Connor Cook that he believed in so much he waited until the 4th Rd comp pick to pick him

Who has been developing Dak since he got here? How many snaps under center in a pro style offense did he run before he got here?

You can make up stories about him not wanting him if it makes you feel better but we both know its unknowable nonsense. For all you know they knew he was going to fall, Garrett was overruled or a whole host of equally plausible alternatives.

If you completely ignore Stephen Jones' quote you can make believe the Cowboys knew he was gonna fall.

Yeah it was all luck.

I'm sure much of it was. If Dallas knew he was going to essentially be a top 10 superstar QB his rookie year, do you think they would really wait till the 4th round to take him? Hell, the only reason he even started was because Romo and Moore went down. If injuries didn't happen, who knows when we would have actually seen him on the field, if ever.

Heck, even a first round QB playing this good, this early, would be extremely lucky.

How does Dak Prescott, a joke of a quarterback drafted in the 4th round - do so well so fast?

Were they lucky he lasted until he did?

You bet.

But to say they had absolutely no interest in the kid is hogwash.

Oh well yeah. Totally agree there. But for any rookie QB, especially a 4th round one, to already be a top 10 QB in the league and a total superstar already is off the freakin' charts lucky.

It just goes to show you kids.

Don't be a fool stay in school!! :)

You can believe that nonsense if it helps you sleep better at night
