A testament to good coaching

I wanted the starters pulled earlier also. Our playoff hopes would be suddenly dashed if Tony took a bad hit, and you know the Skins were looking to hurt him.

On the flip side, I just loved the beat down we administered to the 4Skins. This one will go down in history as a major a-whipping.

Well, as a "fan" your questions have been proven wrong...so far. The HC and his assistants have this team playing their *** off...and you question that?

Did you read anything I wrote, or were you in such a hurry to insult me (nice quotes around fan) that you didn't even bother? I never asked a question. And I very clearly said he is good at having his team motivated and ready to go on game day. I know, reading is hard.

Dudes.
Didn't we just beat the Commanders? Are we going to the playoffs?
Can't we just get along after a kick but win?
Don't

Nothing wrong with a 'testament to good coaching' post on today's board. If posters want to debate that particular point, they're free to. But they're going to have to defend themselves if they do. That's to be expected, I think, in light of what we've just accomplished this season. Isn't it?

This thread had nothing to do with playing the starters, and yet you interjected your opinion on that subject in an insulting way. And now you criticize someone for not seeing the grey? Reading is not hard, but logic can be, and you sorely lack it.

Sorry if the schtick you're getting now is tiresome for you. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't expect it. It's well-deserved. But I'm glad you're happy about the win today.

If you can wrap your head around the idea that in-game management is not the be-all or end-all of head coaching in this league, you'll be where some of us were a few years ago. Assembling and developing talent and building culture has always been what it's all about, and that's been going on for some time.

As for not liking playing the starters today, you're entitled to that, too. I liked it, personally. And I think there's little doubt it ended up helping the team and building a stronger locker room heading into the playoffs. So, if it was a risk, it was a risk that paid off and was really, really fun to watch in the process. Football players play, it turns out. I guess Bill Parcels was right about that.

And, for the record, I would never question your fandom. I question your judgment. There's a huge difference.

To be clear, I was in favor of starting non-banged up starters for a half to keep the good mojo going. Romo should not have started, in my opinion. It was leaving them in for most of the second half that bothered me (and others) so much.

Also, I think I made it clear that I think JG is doing an overall good job with culture and that jazz. I think he absolutely deserves an extension to continue to serve in the lesser-involved role he currently fills.

I'm certainly not going to fawn over him because Randle for some reason said "my bad" after a touchdown run.

If you don't want to fawn on him for that, then don't post in a thread about it.

This thread is comical.... this team is 12-4 and after every victory some people just find a whole new angle to hate everything Cowboys! SMH

To be fair, romothesavior is the only one complaining, and he's not coming off well in this thread.

Just saying get over the on going, forever existing JG arguement and live in the moment of a future playoff game for a few minutes. Guess not.

Ok. This is fair.

I have to go see the Randle clip when it's available. I didn't even notice the 'my bad' that the threat was about, honestly.

I don't see how Jason's role is lesser. He has better people around him doing a better job it appears, but that doesn't mean the HC's role is lesser, just different. I think its what he has wanted and its working out very well. It could even be argued that his role now is greater as he is overseeing all 3 phases of the game and Im sure his time is more evenly spent among the 3. I know some classify it as him getting out of the way but that's just nonsense. His role is different than its been in the past, but not lesser or diminished in any way.

Not for me, anyway. I was on a small island taking heat defending the process for years and called all sorts of things along the way. This bit of obvious vindication is part of living in this particular moment as far as I'm concerned.

It's amusing what lengths people will go to try and shore up being wrong about a sports take.

12-4 and a top candidate for CotY. Now why would a fan not want to credit that? Calling people that appreciate that fanboys on a Cowboys fan forum like an interwebs hipster was my favorite.

What some are not seeing is maybe the starters did not want out of the game. This is where JG inexperience came in he needed to protect the players from themselves. That is the only bad i can take away from the coaching today.

It means kissing someone's rear. It's a very common idiom. Google it.

Look, I'm sorry if I'm being unnecessarily testy, but here's my problem with this thread: you have a game in which the majority of fans, pundits, even our former legendary coach scratching his head about a bad coaching decision. 10 minutes after the final whistle, you have a Garrett fanboy making a thread about a play in which there is literally nothing to see here and shoving it in the Garrett-critics faces. This thread serves no purpose but to rah rah around JG while sticking it to the people who question his judgment.

This is pathetic!

I'm certainly not going to fawn over him because Randle for some reason said "my bad" after a touchdown run.

The reason why someone would point it out is that Randle just made a big play. That is a very emotional thing for a young guy who is a backup and trying to make a name for himself in the league.

Now instead of celebrating his individual achievement when he came off the field he realized that perhaps he could have made a better play by sitting down on the 2-yard line. That would allow us to run out the clock and spare the defense a few snaps and some small risk of injury. So he comes off and is cognizant of the error and apologizes to his HC.

That is a testament to the culture that Garrett is trying to build and has built. The team over the individual.

Some of you guys are just going to have to find some way to come to terms with today's big victory.

And, if you've been questioning the judgement of the HC for years now, perhaps you ought to look in the mirror and realize that you were probably wrong all along. It's not like the signs weren't there and that others didn't see them and repeatedly point out to you what they were seeing.
You know that when John Harbaugh does this and he did this periodically by "running" up the score he's labled a genius by those in the media and even some fans. So when Randle runs for a 80 yd TD and now some fans here are complaining that Garrett was selfish for doing it unispiringly incredible. I enjoyed every minute of that old fashioned butt whooping of the Commanders and how they took it to that blitz happy Jim Haslett who will be fired by the Skins tomorrow lol.
