I didn't believe it after the Chargers loss either.

In fact, after week 6 the Broncos were 6-0 and had beaten us. We were 4-2. I bet a Broncos friend of mine 5 bucks that we would go further this year than the Broncos. That meant it was a push if neither team made the post season.

He owes me 5 bucks. You think I don't want to see him tomorrow? He won't answer his phone tonight.

Previous seasons do not matter in a current season. I'll stand by it until I die.

I stand corrected. I miss interpreted your thread. I thought after the giants loss you feel into the "we cant win in december b/c of the past" group. Thats what I get for speeding through post. Im glad to know i was wrong.

No sweat. I didn't think we would beat the Saints, but I didn't think we were dead.

I can almost agree with this......except for a few things. If you have a top player get severely injured near the end of a season, it definitely affects the following season. Also, if a great player retires, it has an impact on the following season.

Also, we choked last year. He bit the big one. It did have an effect on this year. We got rid of dead weight and replaced them with chemistry, hard work, and leadership. This includes players and coaches.

In a way, the previous seasons did affect this one....all the scrutiny, all the failure, all the disappointment, brought the team closer, made them hold themselves and each other accountable. It made 53 become 1.

Not to mention when a team has made a trend of doing something, like say, losing late in the season, then it easily can become a mental issue that seeps in at that time in following seasons. We've seen that for years now. This year though, they finally finished the regular season strong. That's what I've been looking for them to do for over a decade now.

But now they need to do something else, and that's win in the playoffs. The mental aspect is a huge part of sports. And if we fail to win next week then just like the "December collapse" became an issue for the team for years, trying to win in the playoffs will possibly continue to become more of an issue. It's just human nature and inevitable to have a continued past success or fail come into your thinking when faced with that situation again.

Some teams find ways to win and after doing so many times will expect to do so when confronted with tough situations in the future. Same with losing in pressure situations. Once that becomes a repeated failure then it can easily seep into the players minds the next time they face that situation.

So along with always wanting them to win, I really want them to get this playoff win so they can get that breakthrough and monkey off their back for future seasons as well as this one.

In the "Wildcard Round" of the playoffs the Cowboys are 4-6 overall, but 3-1 at home. 4 of our current 6 game post season losing streak are in this round.

Overall we are 18-6 at home in the Post season.

Before I go to bed, can someone tell me how those 13-0 Saints finished the regular season? thanks.

I really hate getting played
;)
Tell us about that 2-3 finish while you're at it.

I knew you'd try and trumpet this as soon as I saw the Saints score last week. I've been ready.

You asked me this...
http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3112007&postcount=5

I responded with this...
http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3112120&postcount=16

To which you replied with this...

Then we had a weeks long diatribe about trends only to have you finally admit it's all educated guesses and shots in the dark, which is what I claimed all along. At least you know you got played. That's a start.

In first playoff games under Any Reid, Eagles are 7-0. We need to change that.

I think if the Packers go down there in 2 weeks, they'll dismantle the Saints. I don't know what to make of Arizona.

A lot of people today made a big deal of them not winning their last 3, but I think it goes back further than that. They haven't played a good game since they beat NE in November. I think the Saints are headed for where the Cowboys were in 2007: HFA and a one and done exit.

I have a bet with a friend who is a Saints fan. The bet was made just before the Cowboys/Saints game. I'm a massage therapist by trade, and she is hot! So the bet was for a massage, I get one if I win, she gets one if she wins... either way... I win. ;p

(BTW, did I mention she is an ex-Saint's cheerleader?)

The bet was that the Cowboys would go further than the Saints this year. I'll still make that bet.

I wasn't saying I believe that. I was saying that is what we will hear all week.

Pardon, but I believe you intimated that the Eagles were not even trying to win the game. Am I wrong? THEY WERE TRYING. THEY FAILED. AS THEY WILL NEXT WEEK. MARK MY WORDS.

Hos, The Eagles would have LOVED to have kicked our butts again to win the division. Trust me. They failed. Miserably.

AND NEXT WEEK, THEY WILL GET THE FULL RETRIBUTION.

I GUARANTEE it.

Cowboys will NOT lose again until preseason next year.

Super Bowl baby. It's coming. Someone start coming up with 6 ring sigs....

Mark my words.

Yes, you are wrong. I was mocking the media parrots, not intimating that.

Remember what I said though:

1. The Eagles WILL lose for the 3rd time to us this season next week, in our house. It will be a much tougher game, but we WILL prevail.

2. We will march through the NFC playoffs, and represent the NFC in the Super Bowl in Miami. Whatever AFC team facing us has NO chance. We WILL have that 6th ring.

Mark my words.

the biggest myth overturned has been "awful" Wade.

you couldn't sell his stock for a nickel 3 weeks ago even though his defense was playing outstanding. now back to back shutouts??? this is how many weeks of holding teams below their scoring average?

andy reid hasn't won an nfce championship in 3 years yet just got an extension, wade has won 2 in his 3 years as coach.

ask pittsburgh or the giants if the regular season matters... they know it does because they won't taste a post season game.

i feel sorry for the "fans" that couldn't enjoy this season for worrying over when it would turn ugly. this is a quality young team with likable stars. and eventually they will lose. thats what makes the wins worth celebrating.

I'm having a hard time believing this stat:

"We were only 5 of 13 on 3rd down"

We didn't even punt for the first time until what...mid third quarter. That just doesn't ring true to me.

What, you're not impressed?

Well, you can't blame me for bringing it back up seeing how smug and clever you thought you were - and then I nailed it -- 13-3. :laugh2:

Also, if you recall, I said I thought we'd finish "3-2 or 2-3, leaning towards 2-3". I think that was rather close. But I'm glad it ended up being on the higher side and it looks like we finally ended that late season trend.

Educated guess, yes. Not really just a shot in the dark though. That's just blindly throwing darts at a board and neglects the educated part.

And yeah, I don't think I'm the one who got played. 13-3 heh heh :laugh2:

I think the Packers/Cardinals winner can make some noise in the playoffs too.

And I also think the Saints are real vulnerable.
