If he wasn't any good, they wouldn't have kept him when they cut down to 53. They kept Parker and cut Babatunde Oshinowo, a draft pick whom a lot of fans here wanted in April and whom a lot of fans here wanted after the Browns cut him. Instead, we got a player who the Browns think is at least slightly better.

But in the end they cut him. Just like we did Thomas Johnson, if San Fran were to pick him up you can't get but too excited. JMO, if Crennell thought this guy was capable of being a starter, especially after seeing him play last year, I think he would've stayed around, because after Ted Washingon, I don't think they have any NT depth.

The Browns' final preseason game was on last night, and Parker looked like the typical nose tackle -- stout against the run but not much of a pass-rusher (he came out on passing downs). He also looks like he has pretty good feet and can shed blockers to make a tackle (after he came in, he made the tackle the first two times Chicago ran up the middle and made another tackle on an off-tackle run).

Hopefully I can catch the game on NFL network, and I'll feel better.

It still bothers me that Parker is one snap from starting. To my knowledge, Cleveland isn't too deep at NT, so if Parker were any good, I doubt they release him.

Try to keep it in perspective. Willie Blade started 16 games at NT and did a very good job stuffing the run. He wasn't very good at anything else but he could play the run well. Maybe Parker can do the same if called upon.

I didn't say you should get excited. He's a backup nose tackle -- maybe even third-string nose tackle. And apparently, the Cowboys think he could be better than Johnson as a backup/third-string nose tackle. I just don't get the Snuffy Spagnola "if he's any good, why is he available?" mentality.

he acts that way with everyone, If Peyton Manning were to become available, he'd be saying he must be done. All I'm trying to say is if he's a cast off from cleveland, he probably isn't that good. I hope I'm wrong, but odds are I'm right.
