They could have moved up 2-3 spots to get him for a 5th or a 6th.

ESPN reported pretty much the same thing.

With all our late round picks, I'm not sure why we didn't trade up to get him...

Unger = Stepnoski. Both technicians. Dallas got cute instead of being proactive and going up for him.

This just makes Jerry Jones look like even more of a moron. If that's possible.

agreed...my biggest problem with this draft so far is that the Boys did have targets but were unwilling to go and get them. Now we have 12 day two picks to look forward too.:

That's what I've been saying for the past hour. It would've only required a 5th or 6th to move up to #48 to get him. It was a no-brainer move! That was plain just being greedy. Because of that, we were forced to make a trade down that didn't get us much value.

Fine...but why not package some of the 11 picks you already have and move up 2-3 slots to get him?

If they land Duke Robinson and Brandon Tate in the third I will be more than ok with the move.

What makes you think any of the teams 4-5 picks ahead of us wanted to trade down?

We've heard this song and dance before (i.e. Greg Jennings). If there's no difference between pick #51 and #75 (so I've been told), then there was no need to "lock in" on Unger.

Maybe they tried to move up and couldn't. Unger was coveted by more than one team. Still there were people around who could have helped our lines. Loadholt, Moala, Vollmer, Smith, and Kruger would have been solid picks for us.

Well of course they did!

Or that's what some of the know-it-alls want you/us to believe.

Fail. The teams at #48 and #49 both traded down.

Not at 51 they weren't.
