to the other rookie and lets say second year tackles in the NFL this year. Also if you have it where was he ranked among tackles? I'm tired of hearing how bad he was and how Alex Barron was so much better If you have the time and stats I'd like to see them. Thanks

You can't forget to take into account the lack of the running game throughout the season as well.

Hey i am rooting for Rob Petitti, yeah he got schooled, but
i'll say this much, they threw that boy to the wolves,he earned
his paycheck and got a year under his belt.I think he proved
he's one tough kid.I'm betting he comes out blasting next year.

I think Petitti will be a different player a year or so from now. IMO he came in a little soft...huge kid, but got away with natural strength in college. NFL is much different beast. He needs some time to lose some baby fat and firm up. Can't do that while learning a playbook and getting thrown in to the fire. I think he will get much better. Personally I'd like to almost see him sit next year bhind Flo at RT...absorb the NFL, and get much stronger staying 330 or so.

I would hope so for a first round pick. TOo bad st louis protected so well with barron that they lost 2 quarterbacks. and gave up a lot of sacks.

not saying we didnt either. but petiti was a 6th round pick. he was doing well in the first 6 games. it got too much when injuries piled up.

Now...How many of those guys had the tackle on the other side go down and be replaced by a substandard talent so that they could not get the blocking help that a rookie routinely gets?

I wouldnt give up on petiti so quickly. It would be a bad decision.

Give him another year. He showed some great flashes this year at times. For a sixth round rookie he could become something strong on our line.

He became exposed greatly once flozell went down.

If I read this correctly, Rob gave up half the sacks that Barron did? That surprises me. Wasn't Barron a first rounder?

from what i saw of Barron(the few games) he really looks like he can be a stud in this league with some more experience. I have heard good things about Roos as well, that he will probably take over at LT next year. but ya Petitti had a bad year. I think he will get better, but he needs a drastic makeover from now til next year to have any chance of starting. I think he just is what he is. A 6th rder that was forced into action way too early. Having to lose all that weight, I have to imagine Parcells thought he would not have to start at all this year.

but lets be fair -- we've got a very sack prone QB too. and some of those guys are are comparing to are guards. I'd want to see the stats for the league's other RTs

Not that many rookie tackles played a whole lot....
