Wow,,if he gave up 13.5 sacks, I doubt he will turn it around in one off season and cut it 5 ro 6.

That's a tall order, even with conditioning and coaching. I am pulling for him, but I can't help but wonder.

In 11 games nick gazcur (he is a rookie) gave up 8.25 sacks.

It seems the average is around 6-8 sacks for the tackle position either left or right.

Man walter jones is really amazing. He gave up 0 sacks last year.

And 2.5 sacks this year. man.

Last year petigout gave up 11.5 sacks this year he gave up 6.

torrin tucker only played 10 games and he gave up 12.5 sacks. ONLY 10 games.

My god. Flozell be healthy next year!

matt light of the patriots gave up 10 sacks in his rookie year 11.5 the next year. then 3.75 sacks. then 7.5 the year after that. needless to say his innjury this year was looked upon as a tough one. so some rookie Left tackles start slow. I dont think we should give up on petiti yet.

Petitti played LT in college, now he plays RT. Please don't let him start next year Bill, for the love of God.

The injury to Flozell was a bit of bad luck, but we've let the right tackle position hold us hostage for two years in a row trying to get by with undrafted free agents and 6th round draft picks. Its time to allocate some resources to the position. This is the best offensive tackle draft in a decade. There is good value there. You might can find a OT in the 2nd round this year that would be a 1st rounder any other year. You might can get someone at #18 who would be a Top 10 pick any other year. To compete in the NFC, you have to have a RT who can occasionally hold his own again Jevon Kearse, Michael Strahan, Julius Peppers and Leonard Little unless you want Jason Witten to be a fulltime blocker and never go out on a pass pattern.

Pettiti will make a fine backup/swing tackle. Nothing wrong with getting that with a 6th round pick. And if Pettiti shows he can fill in admirably if a starter goes down, he'll have a long career in the NFL in that role.

...conbine it with the 12.5 sacks that Tucker gave up form his position. Not hard to see a problem there.

It's very difficult to judge a tackle's performance based on statistics, especially when the penalties aren't broken down.

How many of Barron's penalties were holds that basically prevented a sack?

Also a know that I dwell on Bledsoe's negatives too much, but his immobility must be taken into account when looking at sack numbers for the people protecting him.

Barron had four holding penalties, nine false starts and three of some other type of penalty (which totaled 30 yards).

In contrast, Petitti was called for two holds in addition to his 13.5 sacks.
