What is mind boggling is how your side ignores the running games impact on improving a teams passing efficiency..........it might not even be in that game but teams that scouted DAL in 2014 knew they had to stop Murray.....they adjusted their D and Romo shredded them in the second half of the season......this also happened during Emmitt's first decade......that extra half second on the play action made those deep slants to Irvin that much easier.....

Mind-boggling in the same way it's confusing when we ignore Santa and Letters from Hogwarts?

Exactly, so Romo is the key, not Zeke. But one could argue that once you get the defense playing great, there is less reliance on the offense as a whole and we could hold down the fort.

And one could argue that if Zeke makes the offense that much better, then maybe he fills enough of a void in case Romo goes down that they could "hold down the fort".

And please don't bring up DMC. People say look at the yards he put up last year but let me say this. He did not scare anyone. He was not moving the pile on 3rd and 2. As a matter of fact, they did even try to give it to him in those short yardage situations. I believe Zeke will bring that fear and power back to our run game.

I don't know how good Zeke will be, though I do absolutely feel that he's a upgrade over the running game we've got, but one thing that people seem to forget about when it comes to passing good....if you run the ball good, and effectively, you can also pass the ball good, and effectively.

He will help make the offense better, overall. That includes the passing game.

Bow out of what?

You thought a no-interception cornerback was the answer. I believe an elite back behind an elite offensive line is the greatest impact a single player can give this team.

And unlike you, I'm not ignoring the other draft picks and free agents brought in.

One player. One. That's all a #4 pick is. And Elliott is a complete back with an amazing track record. And you hate the pick. I don't really know what else to say.

Answer? No that is your problem. You are looking for some kind of immediate answer. Elliot is a hell of a player, but it underlines the problems with the brass in Dallas. The same problem that you seem to suffer from. Short term gain itis. As if making the playoffs and getting lucky is any way to build a franchise.

The Romo era is toast. The ONLY way we could have possibly gotten lucky and won here in Dallas while Romo was still the guy was to fix the defense in the next two off seasons and then grab a great RB at some point. And as you mentioned, the defensive players take longer to kick in. Unless we get 2 or 3 starters from this draft on defense, I dont see it happening. But you probably dont understand any of that.

For the record I didn't have a pet cat in this draft. I was hoping for a trade back I felt a trade back and more picks was the real value. I would have prefered a defensive pick if no trade. All I can say know is that I hope our 2nd round pick pans out and that our 3rd rd guy contributes. This may result in alot of regular season wins but I fear defense will hold us back up in the playoffs. Zeke will be a star behind this OL but then a lot of guys could be very productive. Hope he stays healthy and the defense surprises us.

Well said.

Hold down the fort? That doesnt interest me. This team is reliant on Romo and the offense. That needs to change in Dallas. As Romo is all but toast and we have no stud young QB grooming in Dallas. The only way you do that is to fix the D. The ONLY way you fix the D is by drafting stud defensive players. Not by drafting more offensive players.

Please name the young stud QBs in grooming in the NFL.

Like I said, holding down the fort does not interest me. That conversation was in reference to what a good defense could do if Romo got injured. Nothing to do with settling for "holding down the fort"
