AdamJT13 v. The Horde

Yep. It was only 13-10.

Yep. Lassic had 19 carries for 52 yards, no TD's, and lost a fumble.

They were talented enough to nearly pull it out despite Emmitt's absence...four turnovers (2 Aikman Int's, a fumbled punt, & Lassic's fumble)...and 2 missed FG's. But despite all that talent...there was still times they simply leaned on #22. The final game of that season being a great example.

Argue it all you want, but I see a jump in consistency, yards, yards per carry, and long runs once the games were meaningless and he got closer to a bonus for reaching 1,000 yards.

We were officially eliminated after the Jets game.

So only the Buffalo and Washington game were meaningless.

The last three games were with Moore. A QB with issues, but at least was more competent than Cassel in passing the ball.
Why would McFadden dog it earlier in the year? No guarantee the Cowboys would continue to run him once the season was officially over.

Anyways, there's no doubt that EE will improve our offense, but I think it's wrong to discredit what McFadden did last year. Sure our line is great, but he was the only offensive weapon we had last year. He was still able to churn yards even when the defense knew the playcall.

And you could say the same if we had drafted Ramsey, Bosa or Buckner!

Just saying!

Exactly, so Romo is the key, not Zeke. But one could argue that once you get the defense playing great, there is less reliance on the offense as a whole and we could hold down the fort.

Actually, I think you're wrong simply because having an elite running game, coupled with our Oline, means there's a better chance of Romo staying healthy for the upcoming season. As has AWAYS been said in the NFL, a QB's best friend is a good running game. Notice I didn't say it guaranteed he would remain upright, I merely said it increases the chances and I don't think any sane person would disagree.

I agree he helps him stay more healthy, but not enough to ignore long term sensibility.

You were trounced six ways to Sunday. Not doing this again with you.

I smoked you with some simple question that you completely avoided and then said something dumb like "I cant believe im debating balance". We never talked about balance. You must be getting confused with another conversation. Try to keep up or dont play.

I thank you for the 400 likes I got during our "discussion". Good day.

Just like it would mean nothing if the Cowboys had drafted the way AdamJT13 wanted them to. Kind of a moot point, really...

It makes an obvious point. That romo is the key to the season, not Zeke Elliott. This notion that he makes us better NOW is hog wash. Its marginal at best. Any other good RB would have made this team better. Murray made us better. 12-4 better from 8-8. So unless Zeke gets us to 13-3 and the NFC title game he hasnt done anything that any other good RB would have done. Kebeesh!!!

I say he gets around 250 carries for about 1250 yrds. Which would be really good for a rookie but McFadden, Morris and a 4th round rookie would have given similar overall results. I really do not see them loading him up with 300 plus carries. Perhaps he could see 20-25 touches in the playoffs but not the regular season.

So how is that worth the 4th overall pick?

Nice bow out. Enjoy!!

Bow out of what?

You thought a no-interception cornerback was the answer. I believe an elite back behind an elite offensive line is the greatest impact a single player can give this team.

And unlike you, I'm not ignoring the other draft picks and free agents brought in.

One player. One. That's all a #4 pick is. And Elliott is a complete back with an amazing track record. And you hate the pick. I don't really know what else to say.

So how is that worth the 4th overall pick?

For the record I didn't have a pet cat in this draft. I was hoping for a trade back I felt a trade back and more picks was the real value. I would have prefered a defensive pick if no trade. All I can say know is that I hope our 2nd round pick pans out and that our 3rd rd guy contributes. This may result in alot of regular season wins but I fear defense will hold us back up in the playoffs. Zeke will be a star behind this OL but then a lot of guys could be very productive. Hope he stays healthy and the defense surprises us.

I have totally changed my mind on this ....... in fact why do we even have a RB? They have nothing to do with us winning or losing.

We should go empty backfield every play ......... by the numbers that means we would win even more.

Think of all the throwing ........ when he has to throw 90% of the time is when Romo is at his best .......

From your own article:

This debate is never about the importance of or the situational use of the running game. It's never about the number of carries. It's always only about the judicial use of limited resources on a part of the game that gives you what you need to get from it pretty much without regard for what it costs you to put the pieces in place.

How that's not understood and agreed to by everybody after all the data and all the repetition of the argument is beyond me. But then we also still have people here who think CBs are a waste of limited resources, so I guess there's no lower limit on the ability to ignore the obvious.

It's mind-boggling, but it goes on no matter what evidence is presented, and it'll be going on long after this thread is forgotten somehow.

What is mind boggling is how your side ignores the running games impact on improving a teams passing efficiency..........it might not even be in that game but teams that scouted DAL in 2014 knew they had to stop Murray.....they adjusted their D and Romo shredded them in the second half of the season......this also happened during Emmitt's first decade......that extra half second on the play action made those deep slants to Irvin that much easier.....

The Horde: YES WE GOT ZEKE!!1!

AdamJT13: Unfortunately, decades' worth of statistical evidence shows that rushing effectiveness has little correlation to winning. *cites said evidence in painstaking detail*

The Horde: That's stoopid! Zeke is da man!

AdamJT13: Elliott may very well be a good player. But his ability to run the ball has little bearing on whether the Cowboys win. The evidence clearly demonstrates that teams win when they pass the ball better than their opponents.

The Horde: Well...that's just your opinion man!

AdamJT13: Actually, that's a fact, not an opinion.

The Horde: But but but running teh ball makes Romo better! Just like in 2014 with Murray!

AdamJT13: There's no correlation between rushing effectiveness and passing effectiveness. *cites evidence in support of claim* In 2014, for example, the Cowboys won the games where they passed the ball better than their opponents and lost the games where they didn't. There was no correlation between Murray's rushing effectiveness in those games and Romo's passing effectiveness. *cites evidence in support of claim*

The Horde: ARE YOU BLIND? OF COURSE HAVING A DOMINANT RUN GAME HELPS DO YOU EVEN WATCH DA GAMES YOU *?#$

AdamJT13: Yes, I watched and charted every game, just like I've done for many years. What evidence do you have in support of your assertion?

The Horde: iM to busy to look it up but everyone says so

AdamJT13: *closes eyes, takes a deep breath, exhales*
