Adding a third quarterback?

I've been reading about several quarterbacks looking for work (or soon to be) and was wondering to myself if it would make sense for the Cowboys to get into the market.

Considering that the Stephen McGee experiment obviously did not work out, should the Cowboys look into obtaining another young option as a third quarterback?

Vince Young is working out and trying to resurrect his NFL career while the Jets look to be cutting Tim Tebow in the not-too-distant future.

Do you guys feel either would make a nice addition as a #3 quarterback?

There is no way in hades I want either of those two on this team because it would only further divide the fan base and for no good reason.

Those 2 would be too much of a distraction. On another note, I think if we carry a 3rd signal caller, they would have to contribute somewhere else. Like ST, WR. Somebody like Denard Robinson.

So what are you trying to say here, Brain? :laugh2:

Landry Jones would be the perfect developmental quarterback for the cowboys. Give him 2 years to learn and grow behind Romo and Orton and then we are set. I believe he may be available in the 4th round.

No way Boys are spending a 4th rounder on a 3rd string qb.

The third QB should be a young, developmental type.

Would a 25 year old Tim Tebow qualify?

If so, do you have faith in Garrett and Wade Wilson to develop him?

Just say no to Tebow!

Fair enough.

But didn't drunk Jerry slur some flattering words about Tebow a few years ago?

Edit: sorry, mixed up two separate Jerry conversations.

He was sober when he talked about whether or not he considered trading for Tebow.

unless someone really drops i don't see us adding a qb this year. but could next year. a much better class and another year down the road with romo.
guys like vince young and tebow are a wate of a roster spot. they will never be quality nfl qb's and while tebow may find a job as a backup for many year i think vince young is gonna find it tough to get a job in the nfl

This. Not some retread who's already proven incapable of playing QB in the league.

FWIW Kyle Padron came in for a visit maybe a UDFA target

OK, so 2 years to grow and learn behind Romo and Orton.... Then we'd have to wait another 2 years until Romo's contract made sense for him to move on. At which point, Landry's rooike contract would also be up, so if he was any good at all, we'd have to give him another contract of lose him. Much like the QB guru's in GB ended up doing with Flynn. They got a whole lot of NOTHING for him in the end.

So we spend a 4th round pick, invest development time, use up all the advantage of having a player on a rookie contract for the off chance that he might be better than average.

This year is the PREFECT year to NOT draft a QB.
