I know everyone is freaking out about trading MP, and rightfully so. Losing a premier pass rusher in his prime hurts and many just can't see beyond that. But the truth is they are fairly deep at DE and MP just wasn't willing to take the deal they offered. Trading him for two 1's and a good player at your weakest position wasn't a bad move. I don't like it, but I do understand it.
But while listening to Jerry's pass conference yesterday, I got a glimmer of hope. I am starting to wonder if they/he have more DT moves in mind? Honestly, when was the last time you heard Jerry Jones talk about the "NEED" to get better at DT and stopping the run as a major priority for this team? If JJ somehow suddenly realizes the importance of having stout DTs, this trade sets them up very well to address the issue.
Getting Clark in the deal is a start. He is a good, veteran DT and he should certainly help the inside run defense right now. Plus, and this is important, he is on a very team friendly deal that pays him peanuts this year and is already set up to be expunged from the books next season.
So with that thought in mind and the extra high end draft capitol they now have, I have to wonder, is JJ going to make another splash move on the D-line in the near future? Are they planning to either flip a few higher picks to add someone now? Maybe, but they may just ride with what they have for this season.
Or could will they wait to use one of the extra 1's to draft a new, stud young DT like Woods, Overton or Corleone next year? I get excited thinking about a possible move like that and what it could mean for this defense and for this team.
