Because Miami barely uses miller. We overused Murray. Did I not make a valid enough argument? If yiu don't think miller behind this line would be incredible your delusional. Miller may be the leading rusher behind this line. And yes I'm serious

First off you don't have to insult me with the delusional stuff. Second why would Dallas offer Miller a contract that they offered to Murray last season? That would be insane especially comparing both RBs productions in the past.

If Dallas signed him it should be a cap friendly deal where it will not hurt the team's cap situation. However, Dallas needs to find a rookie RB in which that individual will not be injury prone like Miller and is younger.

Yep. If they don't fall in love with QB in round 1, I can see this playing out. A couple defensive players and a back with the first 3 picks.

There's a lot of merit in that thought.

The running back position does not necessarily need to be fixed this offseason.

A one or two year plug-in player like Lynch or Chris Johnson (who played darn well for Arizona) or Forte would do– they would split carries with McFadden. And none of them is going to get a big contract.

Didn't mean it as an insult. Miller is only 26. And I'm saying Murray's offer is what the organization thinks should be allocated to RB. If you get him for less awesome if not give it to miller. Again. His production isn't the same because he wasn't used nearly as much. Go look at his stats for 20 plus yard rushes compared to Murray. Miller is injury prone? Since when?

The smart money is on youth at RB in the NFL. As the mileage increases, the productivity and reliability decreases from wear and tear.

We were lucky on Murray and D-Mac -- unlucky on Dunbar and stupid on Randle.
It would be wise to steer away from anyone whose tread might be starting to wear -- just wouldn't be worth the risk.

We'll get a capable RB in the draft, and bring in a few UDFA's. The reputation and potential of that back will depend on our board, and how the draft unfolds. I doubt we choose to pick one in the first or second round, unless a high-rated prospect falls to us.

Like the idea of using the draft....my only issue with drafting a RB is.....very few rookie RBs are making a difference or are productive....Gruely..Yeldon, and late round picks of David Johnson and Matt Jones are a few stand outs but thats a short list......Tevon Coleman, Melvin Gordon was nothing to get excited about and in hindsight they got drafted to high...... Abdulla was alright but already has fumbling issues..Duke Johnson, Jay Ajayi and others cant make it on the field.

I like the idea of drafting a young RB but I like immediate production of a veteran RB better.

Sign Dunbar and Turban or someone else.

From there you draft a RB IF he is at top of your board in any round when it's your pick...if not, you don't draft a RB.

This sounds like a pretty solid option. I'm still all for Treadwell in the first/Derrick Henry in the second/QB in the third, but if this was the alternative I wouldn't be too upset...

I definitely want to see Dunbar and DMC back next year, meh on Turbin.
If we refuse to use a draft pick on a RB then Lamar Miller is the guy I want as a FA.
I think Elliott is the biggest bang for our buck although using our first on him negates our ability to draft a QB for the future in the odd position of drafting top 5 and having a good shot at getting a Romo successor.
I don't like Henry for the same reason I don't like Alabama RBs and Wisconsin RBs, they just don't seem to be ready for success at the next level for whatever reason.
I'd much prefer Booker and/or Collins in Rd 3 if not Elliott in 1.

I like Dunbar, underrated and seems like a hard worker.

However, he can't stay healthy and how many lower body surgeries is this? I can't afford to use a roster spot on him this year.

Give me a FA back and another in the draft. A Miller/Collins haul would secure the run game and wouldn't be a huge investment.

Running the ball was such a huge part of our success in 2014 and I'm curious to see what everyone thinks we should do with the running back position heading into the offseason.

I don't think Murray was the reason we controlled the clock in 2014.

"Controlling the clock" has more to do with completion percentage and converting on third downs than it does with how often you run the ball or how well you run it.
