Adrian Hamilton vs. Demarcus Ware

This is just a theory on my part, but maybe Ware lets up just a little bit when he's near the QB so that his body's more controlled and balanced?

It's true that he usually doesn't deliver a knock out blow, but on the other hand, you rarely see him get juked once the QB is in his sight. You sometimes see pass rushers who go full steam ahead whiffing on the sack as the QB slips left or right. You rarely see this happening to Ware.

Again, it's just a theory, but seeing as how he incorporates pilates and martial arts into his training (which preaches being balanced), maybe there's something to it?
I completely agree with that. He's not someone who plays with reckless abandon.

I do think there is a large grain of truth about coming at the QB under control versus full-bore.

However, you can still just kind of burst at them the last second and drive your way through the tackle instead of just wrapping him up and bringing him down.

I still think a large part of it is he just doesn't want to hit people too hard because he doesn't want to hurt anyone out there. So he goes a bit out of his way not to hurt people.

Yea, I totally see the gentle giant aspect of his game.

DeMarcus is a nice guy. you can call it soft or whatever, but it's the truth. He's not looking to smash opponents, for better or worse. There are lots of guys out there that act like Ware and Hamilton.

fwiw...I prefer guys who smash QBs. Not to say that Ware isn't a tremendous player, but I think a big hit has more impact on a QB than people realize.

Who cares if he's not looking to smash QB's? He still does it anyway. He's our best player and one of the best in the league.

I wish Ware would smash Eli into the ground the way they did Romo.

I think it's safe to say that we all like Hamilton. A lot of folks were talking about him prior to training camp and he's shown why. He's done more than enough to make the team, so no worries there.

As far as Demarcus Ware, he's the poster-boy for a superstar player who doesn't quite do enough. In all of my years following football I do not recall a great DE/LB's game being dissected/nit-picked as often as Wares. I understand that the OP wasn't necessarily being negative towards Ware, but isn't the goal to tackle the QB? It's hard enough to get to the Qb when you're a Demarcus Ware, now you wan't a kill shot? If you're the opposing QB and you're facing Ware, how many kill shots are you going to give him?? Probably none! Qb's make it a point to know where he's lined up every play.

If Ware is any more rougher it would be a felony. I hope Ware keep killing them softly.

He is a great player but he is not an intimidator. That's the difference psychologically between playing against a guy like Ware and a guy like James Harrison. Harrison wants to put the hurt on you and you have to pay extra attention to him coming close to you - it makes you jittery, your accuracy goes down, you rush your throw before your receiver is ready or you pull your eyes away from the field to focus on whether he is picked up.

I just think if Ware would light up QBs a bit more (within the confines of the rules of the game) this whole defense would be more effective.

I'm okay with it if he can't do it the other way but I really wish he would. We need an intimdator. Ratliff could do it earlier in his career when he was more explosive but now he can be easily handled most of the time in the pass rush.

If you go back and look at the early part of Ware's career you will see that he did hit qbs hard but he was getting a lot of penalties because of it and had to change things to avoid getting them.

That game was an oddity and I think Ware was just juiced to be out there after recovering from that neck strain where he was carted off on the spine board against the Chargers the week before.

I don't think I've ever seen Ware play a better game than he did that night.

Some part of me wonders if the difference was Ware got some rest that night. I wonder if he could go like that all game if he got 15 reps off a night but we made sure to get him in there on most passing situations and red zone snaps.

We got to keep him, he will catch somewhere as soon as he is cut and contribute,

You must have missed a lot of Ware's sacks especially the ones on Eli. Ware's sack hurt QB(s), how much is relative. I guarantee that every offensive coordinator and QB are plenty intimidated by Ware more so than any other defensive player in the entire NFL.

If you rather have another OLB that is perceived to hit harder, you can have him, I will gladly roll with Ware and 10 other players just like him.

Wow! You actually think opposing NFL qbs are not intimidated by Ware? Just because Ware does not run around screaming and flexing his muscles after a big hit, etc..., doesn't mean that he is not intimidating.

You better believe they are. It's really crazy that this is even being discussed. It's one of those situations were people won't realize how good this guy is/was until he's gone.

Am I wrong, or is this actually criticism of Ware?

Ware is an intimidator in the sense that he must be gameplanned so that he doesn't dominate the game. He is an intimidator in the sense that he can shut down an opposition's offense.

However, I don't think he is an intimidator in the sense that he isn't about to put anyone out of the game.

Try to remember the last time a QB left a game because of a hit from Ware - I remember him hitting someone in his rookie year pretty good. There are probably other instances but that's all I can remember.
