He has his convictions that he's doing the very best for his children. That's often the approach in African American homes and in over hundred million other homes in the U.S. Billions worldwide live like that as the norm. But the privileged elite seem to know better in our country and are committed to impose and police their view on everyone else.

We live in what some sociologists have dubbed an epidemic of narcissism and "an aspirational deficit" with the emerging generation. Funny how people can't connect the dots to the ultra-passive, "your always a special winner" "don't touch" style of parenting.

Maybe it truly was abusive. I wasn't there and neither was anyone in this forum. It's interesting to note that unlike many AP is actively involved w/his children and still married to their mother. There is a whole lot to be said for that.

I'm tentative in my views again...since I wasn't there. I don't have access to an NSA video camera monitoring that home. My hunch is that the government and media have been 10x more abusive than AP. But hey...just a hunch.

I come from an Italian home. Disciplining your children with some smacks here and there is normal. 20 years ago no one would even be making a big deal out of this. I agree i wasnt there though so i cant comment or speculate. I took some nice wollups in my day, well deserved too

They'd have been in a lot better position if they'd just handled their PR better.

For sure, though I think they may have been more gutless than stupid. Would have taken stones to support their guy, but it's what they should have done if they had any intention of renegotiating his price tag.
