Personally I think him bringing up Texas is a big deal. I mean, why even bring it up? To me thats saying, Jerry please save me

It was for me. I said so in the other Peterson thread when I posted the comments there. That says a lot to me about where his mind (and heart) is.

I didnt even see the comments were already posted. And i agree. Honestly, if he is re instated and released i think hes already a cowboy in his mind and heat. May even give a discount to play for this team. At the point our offense just went to another level in my opinion

you're gonna have to narrow it down a LOT more than that.

I saw another article in the comment on the subject of money and he seemed to indicate that it wasn't the end-all, be-all in making his decision. I took that as another good sign.

And personally, I hope that Judge Doty comes out with a decision to have him reinstated by March 10th. I think it's the fair thing to do for him and it would also be beneficial to the Cowboys to have their decision made as soon as possible.

AP is a Viking and will be until something official happens. This thread should be in the NFL section of the forum.

So if AP is signed here, before the ink is dry on his release papers. Does the tampering rumors start...It's like Viagra for Ed Werder, He would be all over that faster than a pig will smile in slop.

The Vikings are in control of the situation. If they release him it's not because of tampering.

It would be different if he were an upcoming free agent, but considering that he is under contract and it's the Viking's choice if he stays or goes, then they really can't claim tampering.

I think the only way they could claim tampering is if he holds out to force them to release or trade him. Considering his salary is several million more there than he'll probably get with another team, I don't expect him to try to force them to do anything.

Yes, I know it would not be tampering, but I can see people saying that if he is signed very shortly afterwards. Was being facetious when I posted that. Or trying to be,,,,LOL

Hmm, this makes things interesting. He basically is saying in my opinion he will not be in Minny next season. He also brings up Texas. Which is very interesting in my opinion. Honestly, I see him wearing a star next season.

I must say, with the thought of Peterson in Dallas, I was killing time speed watching a few Cowboys games the other night. I counted lots of tackles on Murray in the open field that would not have brought down AD. I'm not saying Demarco isn't a physical runner, but if Murray isn't squaring up on you, he goes down pretty easily. Peterson is a completely different animal. He's running to deliver some damage. He would be a monster with this line. Dez wouldn't have anyone covering him downfield because they'd have all eleven in the box!

LOL, 2M? I dont think any RB will play for that unless its a draft pick and they dont have a choice

Forsett lead the league in Yards Per Carry at 730K. This is a plug-and-play offensive line that does not need someone making 6-10 million to move the football.

Watch Garrett's last interview. He disagrees.

Peterson's on a different level from the other backs in the league. Or at least he was. He's just a beast. MIN is stupid to have let this situation get where it is, and it sounds behind the scenes like they're actually trying to dangle the trade, which means letting him walk if a deal can't be done and he won't renegotiate might be on the table. I think a trade is very unlikely, so it comes down to swallow the deal, renegotiate or cut. With a guy who seems disinclined to renegotiate.

They'd have been in a lot better position if they'd just handled their PR better.

While I doubt that the tampering issue will ultimately amount to anything, I don't think his contract status negates a tampering issue. If that were the case Jerry could call anyone under contract and let them know they are a player we target for acquisition and suggest that they become malcontents (much like our Ratliff situation, or the Kyle Orton situation). I agree that our argument would be why would we tamper with him since he will become a free agent anyway and we wouldn't need to tamper with him to get that done.

The problem with that argument is that it would be like Donald Trump robbing a bank at gunpoint and arguing he didn't rob the bank because he has enough money that he doesn't need to rob a bank. That argument is only effective if he didn't actually rob the bank.

If he wants to play for 2M or under I'll take him. Otherwise I'm adding every resource imaginable to our defensive line and drafting a back.

That would be great but I don't think he would take that big of a cut.

Tried to look at what cutting Randle and Dunbar would save us but their base salary doesn't
even come close to what Peterson would expect on an annual basis.

The NFL let Legarette Blount work him self off of the Steelers and was immediately re-signed by NE, who had just lost Ridley to injury. PITT had to start a guy they just picked up in the playoffs because Bell got hurt while Blount helped the Pats to another SB.

If that wasn't tampering then nothing is.

I wonder if Minny would take Murray and Claiborne in a trade for Peterson?
