Joey Galloway got injured and we weren't a player away anyways, like you said. Roy Williams was always a scrub and another factor during that time was Jason Garrett was calling the plays. Williams was actually a means to try and rectify an ailing offense as well.

It's not even close to comparable and I have no idea how people try to correlate the situations.

They just do it out of desperation to protect their point or views. Those situations are not even remotely close to this one. We have a dominant Oline. You put Peterson behind this line and we instantly become NFC favorties to go to the super bowl.

Jerry would be a fool not to go after Peterson.

And Murray nearly got a thousand after contact.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/03/04/free-agent-profile-demarco-murray/

"Though the Dallas offensive line was rightly lauded for fine performances over the season, that shouldn’t take attention away from what Murray was achieving behind them. In addition to leading the league in rushing, Murray nearly eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards after contact and forced the second-most missed tackles with 55. He had particularly good success on first down to often set Dallas up with good situations on second down. Among runners with at least 60 first down carries, Murray ranked fifth with 4-plus yard gains on 39% of those attempts. His 2.68 yards after contact average on first down also ranked in the Top 10."

Would you look at that? It's like both Murray and our line made each other look great. Crazy!

I don't know how that proves their point. That means 1000 yards of Murray was before he even got hit, meaning more than 50% of his yards when you actually work through the numbers. Considering his work-load as well and the ability of the line to give him those holes, considering he was second-most in missed tackles is not surprising. He was getting to full speed early, meaning harder to take down. You also look at the fact that he was probably not anywhere near top home-run hitters, meaning potentially lots of yards left on the field.

They are trying to spin this into Murray, when it actually strengthens the point of the OL.

Trying to compare the situation of Peterson in Minnesota to Romo and the Cowboys... Do people understand that most defenses play lots of deep cover-2 because of Dez? Murray never had break-away speed. Now you've added a threat from scoring at the LOS. What are you going to do with Peterson in the back-field and Romo showing he understands plenty enough when to hand the ball off? Can you imagine what play-action is like?

I just hope Pollack can continue where Callahan left off...

If we don't win the SB with that, it's not in our destiny... All you can do is field a team that gives you the best chance to win.

He'd be a fool giving up a 1st and other draft picks plus a starting corner.

I don't buy AP going anywhere though...

Minnesota is totally in charge of this situation and considering how many baby-mamas he has, the Vikings are much more in a position to wait it out. His agent isn't in control of this situation at all. And I'm sure Norv wants to get to call plays with AP in mind.

It doesn't make sense. If Murray had had a poor season or even an average one, it would make sense but not after the season he had. It especially would not make sense to his team mates and friends. He had the best season by a RB in Cowboys history. And his reward is telling him that we can only pay him X amount with X guaranteed and then turning around and paying another RB more? One who has not played in a year and is 4 years older? I don't know, if I was his team mate that would be a sign of disloyalty by the franchise.

If Murray was that phenomenal, he would have been swept up by a team quickly in free-agency. Other teams understood the OL built by Callahan and the running schemes of his played a major part in those numbers...

no one ever said that is what the cowboys are willing to give up

I don't think they are giving up anything. I imagine we will start training camp with Ajayi, Coleman or Yeldon in the backfield. Fighting for a spot with McFadden and the rest.

Well count me in the club that wants nothing to do with Ajayi...he fumbles more than Murray...I could live with the other two and actually am a big fan of Coleman. If that is the direction the team goes or trades up and nabs Gurley...then great. However until the AD speculation has come to an end then my first choice is to bring him in.

The best way to improve the Defense, within Romos time frame to make a push at the Super Bowl, is to ensure that the Offense continues to have the capability of dominating Time of Possession.

That may very well be the case. But if AZ or another team gets AP , if AP becomes available, then I will see that as a huge opportunity we missed out on, and we will come to regret it.

I find it hard to believe fans still think this. Did you not learn anything from Ratliff and Orton? The player holds all the cards if he is willing to go all in to get what he wants. Ratliff showed up and claimed he hurt himself in the first 15 minutes of conditioning drills. He then refused to be seen by the team doctors and left the team to seek his own medical treatment. His agent began claiming it could be a serious injury, maybe even season ending. The Cowboys waited it out for a few weeks but finally had enough as roster decisions had to made and cut him. Two weeks later he was starting for the Chicago Bears. AD can do something similar if he wants out. What if he shows up and fumbles 50% of the time he touches the ball in practice? What if he just obviously isn't giving 100%. The team cannot force a player to give his all. AD has a multiple of avenues to force Minny to trade or release him. He just has to be willing to take one of them. The player holds all the cards because ultimately, the team will be forced to move on if they aren't getting value on the field from a player.

I don't think it's a good comparison to take a back who had an abnormal monster year YPC-wise and use that as evidence he is slipping.

Which of these numbers is not like the other? 5.6, 4.8, 4.4, 4.6, 4.7, 6.0, 4.5.

Anyone who was expecting Peterson to follow up his 6.0 year with another isn't grounded in reality. He is a consistent 4.5-plus back (other than the 4.4 year) and with 5.6 and 6.0 years being anomalies. To use the fact that he returned to normal as evidence that he's slipping is a reach.

Now, losing playing time to injuries is a different story. Fortunately, he's started at least 14 games in 5 of 7 seasons (not counting last year).

Well, it depends on what happens with the player we draft and how Peterson does. If we get one who picks up where Murray left off last year and gives us four or five years of good production, I don't think we'll regret that. If we pick one of the ones who struggles or can't shake injuries, then we'll probably regret it even if Peterson only is able to put up one good year. If Peterson suddenly drops off from the player he has been, we'll be counting our lucky stars.

This is why I'm OK with various scenarios, including one that involves trading for Peterson. There is risk any way we do it and I'm not going to say Dallas did it wrong if Peterson goes to another team and we choose to draft Gurley, Gordon or a second-round back. ... I will say the team is taking too big of a risk with a position that was of great value to us last year if we wait until the third round, because of the percentages against finding what we need.
