It is what it is. Carter has been disappointing so far. He shouldn't even have been out there with the 1's. Maybe he'll shine next week. If it's any consolation to Carter, Cameron Lawrence (53) was worse:)

was he really? at least cameron caused a fumble.

Terrell McClain
Henry Melton
Brandon Carr
Morris Claiborne
Sterling Moore

All starters or key guys that sat.
The guys that started tonight played about two series before sitting. Church sat pretty quick, Scandrick sat quick, Durant sat quick, Carter sat quick. We then stuck in Mitchell paired with Webb (one of them gets cut) and that's when Flacco and Co moved the ball. Most of our third and fourth string were in against the Raven first and second string. We never really played a second string tonight. They were pressed into starting roles. Some second string didn't play at all.

Add
D Lawrence in wk 4 or so
Scandrick in wk 5
Spencer in wk 4-5

I'd take away Moore wk 5....
Anyway, that's 7 of our top 12 defensive players not even playing right now.

It'll still be rough, but better than some think

Save your oxygen bro, I saw a lot of positives last night but those with negative agendas will dismiss them. There are only a hand full of teams with quality depth, so we are in the same boat as 90% of the league.

I hope you guys who are so optimistic are spot on. I long for this team to surprise in a positive way.

If the offense stays healthy and shines, they may overshadow a below league average defense.

thats why the second half of the season might be in the plus column
but we still need some first half wins

BS. A lot of those playing now are fighting for either starting jobs or rotational positions. And they don't look very good. Think on that.

Most of these guys are not only fighting for their starting jobs or places on this team, they are fighting for a job in the NFL period. A lot of these guys won't be in the NFL if they can't stick here.

Actually I see greatness in this team. They are young and only getting better. Our team played better this week compared to last week, why you think that is. ..... maybe cause more projected starters played tonight then last week. Geesh let's wait for the real games start before we say this team is in shambles

I see why you would say this.

I don't know.

When you realize the level of lack of talent on the defense we have..

it will take years to rebuild it.

Numerous drafts and a lot of losing to obtain the picks needed to reverse what has happened..

....I'm not sure the fan base will withstand the required losing needed.

Hard to evaluate last night when the Ravens player their starters significantly longer. That said, we spotted them 14 points and the backups still nearly pulled it out.

I had a tempered level of pessimism after the first preseason game, but I came away with all positives after last night.

Yeah, right. 18 years of nothing and we are suddenly 2 years out when it looks like we have the worst defense in the NFL?

Its three years of tear down and rebuild it will take two more [I think] but thats my guess.
We can see the offense is ready but we still have some work to do on the D.

Getting Scott Linehan might've just saved a lot of Cowboys coaches jobs.

We may actually have a coaching advantage on game day for a change this year.

It's appearing that way at first blush and I am hopeful

what you see as shambles,I see as building a winner
we're two years out

I'm not giving up on this year yet,but I hope we aren't far out with our cap under control and free agency because Romo can't wait fora complete rebuild.

If you mean by giving up can't run at the SB I am not there.
I think were a couple years off and I think Romo gets a real shot at the Lombrodi

That starts here...did you watch some plays that you really did enjoy?

We've withstood it this long so no point jumping ship now. At least for those of us old enough to remember the good ole days. The under 30 crowd unfortunately have none of the memories of pre Jerry The Al Davis years, so for them that stick they are truly die Hards because we may as well be the Browns for all Jerry has given them on the field with his 40 yo brain and new safe GMing.

I'm not very likely to place too many eggs in my basket of hope that our defense is going to morph into one with great durability.

I'd be greatly relieved if this organization simply manages to acquire enough depth required to overcome its excessive injuries.

Prospects for the defense improving may not be hopeless just yet -- new players will likely be added once waivers are made.

At least, this organization is exercising precautions to prevent premature returning from injury as had been the case before.

Moreover, with a decent amount of added prevention in the avoidance of unnecessary pulls and strains, it should improve.
