I posted on this site yesterday hoping to see what Belechik's approach would be for stopping Brees, figuring he is the master at taking away what you like to do best.... and got just the opposite effect watching last night's game !!
I think the Saints are damn good but I think the Pats defense is suspect and has been all season and the numbers Brees put up (158 QB rating!) is hard to duplicate every week

I hope we have to go to the last game to see where our fate lies, we will not fall victim to complacency that teams that clinch by early December go through. We will play with intensity through the playoffs and not miss a beat.

Hate to say it but I want us to duplicate the roadmap of how the Giants did it 2 years ago on their way to the SB.

The Pats front 7 isn't what it used to be and they have let to many good corners walk.

Their arrogance of just replacing anyone has finally caught up to them defensively.

The Pats are still a heck of a team and still have a good shot at winning the Superbowl but they need to pull in the reigns of their offense more and start playing the style of football that lead them to their first championship.

Brady has always got most of the glory but that defense has always been the unsung hero of their titles.

As far as the Saints go... Congrats... I hope they feel extremely fat and happy after last nights win but even though they are good I still think we can beat them.

I got a lot of confidence in our pass rush and if they try to run a wide open offense against us then a lot can go wrong for them imo.

Our pass rush has dictated teams passing attacks all year.

Looks to me that the SAINTS have trouble stopping the run. St Louis pounded SJax and had a close game. Maroney was able to get some yards lat night but they fell behind way too fast. Control the clock and keep Brees off the field. I do like our D much better than the Pats as well. The media will CROWN the Saints after last night. Would love to beat them in the dome in a few weeks. It can be done.:star:

New England's biggest problem is their failure to replace aging players in the front 7 and defensive backfield when they should have. They continued to play old guys from their Super Bowl wins such as Bruschi, 40+ year old Junior Seau, and Rodney Harrison. It's finally caught up with them. They've got 6 new starters on defense, and they're really one injury away from not being able to stop the run if Wilfork were to go down.

When Brees is unloading the ball in under 3 seconds there's no way a pash rush can develop. The guy is awesome and the only hope we have of beating them in New Orleans is that our running game gets going and we keep him off the field. Any given Sunday still rings true, but this Saints team has very few holes.

I'm quite worried about that game when we get there. Of course should we beat the Giants, and Chargers, prior to that then I won't care as much. Those two wins would make it a lot easier to handle the Saints likely beating us.

A few of Brees TDs last night were perfect throws and the DBs covering the WRs were in a great position. You can not defend the perfect pass. It is defending the fade away in basketball.

Let's hope they blew their wad last night and come back to reality when the Cowboys play them in a few weeks.

TD #1 - swing pass to the RB: Nothing special.
TD #2 - Blown coverage, WR open by 20 yards: Easy as they come
TD #3 - Perfect pass down the middle - A great pass yes, but the WR was open by a few steps, perfect wasn't required really.
TD #4 - 2 guys in the same spot open in the enszone, pretty easy play.
TD #5 - A good throw to moderately tight coverage. A pass that happens in every game: Good, but nothing spectacular.

To me, the Saints' biggest weapon was their back shoulder throws.

Randy Moss looked pretty disinterested the whole game. He was very non-nonchalant after each of Brady's interceptions. A Cowboys wide receiver would get roasted if they approached tackling the guy the way Moss did.

The Saints do a good job scheming. They run many short routes that give their receivers an opportunity to run after the catch, and when the defense tightens up they run by you for big gains or wait until they get the matchups they want, like a TE or RB against a linebacker. Their offense is well coordinated.

The ideal and obvious approach would be to run it and milk the clock to neutralize Brees. Equally obvious is that is MUCH easier said than done. Everyone wants to do that but so far when the Saints get their turn they are scoring fast and slowing taking that run option out of play by getting a nice lead.

I've now seem them completely annihilate the Giants, the Eagles and the Pats. All three of those offenses rank as high or higher than the Cowboys, but I do think our "D" is as good or better than their's.

For now, I just want us focusing on the Giants. They are a wounded beast playing at home....time to tame them!

worst game played by NE in many years: guess there video cam was broken or their scanner had trouble stealing signals to the QB

and they just quit like a bad junior high team

The day has finally come in today's NFL where the New Orleans Saints breeds fear into the hearts of other teams' fans. These are, indeed, the end of days. :(

Anyhoo! How about those Giants?

You can believe whatever you want but I know what I saw. I know TDs were completed with DBs all over them.

After watching last nights game I am convinced that if Dallas 12 year history of not winning a playoff game and poor Decembers means Dallas will fail this year then you better believe New Orleans two playoff wins in 40 something years must be a slam dunk 100% money back guarantee that they have no shot in hades of winning a Super Bowl much less making it to a Super Bowl.

Or does past history have anything to do with this year? I can't remember.

The Saints are for real, there isn't much doubt. Dallas is the only team that, on paper, poses a threat to them running the table for the season.

New England is not the same team that suited up for 2007. They are still good, but Brady threw a couple of awful throws that cost them badly and their defense had some major breaks in coverage. If Brady doesn't float that duck last night that got intercepted it could well have been 14-3 New Englad instead of 10-7 New Orleans. The Pats never recovered from that turn-over, they just seemed to play shell-shocked the rest of the game.

A few things.

- I dont think that I have ever seen a QB that gets the ball to his WR's regardless of coverage. I have seen some good DB coverage of Brees' Wr's and THEY STILL connect.

- Cowboys beating the Saints? Not this version of the Cowboys, not this version of the Saints.

The way I see it, we will probably have much success running, but we wont be able to sustain their air attack. Our DB's are going to get embarassed. Romo will be baited in his mistakes. He will fumble too. Our pass rush will never get to Brees.

Pat blew a 17 point 4th qrt lead I would think their defense is suspect right now. I take nothing away from the performance of the Saints lastnight they played a great game and frankly I look forward to our matchup with them.
